Arghhhhhhhhh! Someone hold me back. Someone take away my pen and my keyboard.

Just until this passes.

Please.

I can't give in.

Must start fresh.

Must...start...fresh!!!!!

I...sniffle...I want to write on my NaNoWriMo project and I can't stand it any more.

I plotted more today at breakfast. I'm working on detailed plotting now and it's amazing what pops up when I do. Ideas...more and more of them. Details that fill in sections of the plot I hadn't even considered before.

I know that's good. It's very good.

The problem is that I have these three scenes in GREAT detail in my mind. Okay, maybe that four. The fourth keeps playing in my mind like a movie.

And, I want to write them sooooo bad I can't stand it.

But, the point and purpose of NaNoWriMo is to start on a new project. Not something already in the works.

Plus, I want to see if I can write an entire novel from scratch in one month.

Sigh...

So, I have to refrain for a little over a week more.

I just hope I don't lose the scenes. Is it wrong to sketch them out with bits of dialogue ahead of time?

Well, I'm off to the mall with my daughter for her to pick out a birthday present for a friend and for me to pick up some sugar free chocolate from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to reward myself for when I finish my novel this weekend. (Definitely this weekend.) And, a couple of things for my sister.

Maybe that'll help me resist the desire to work on those scenes.

Writing takes precedence over contest. You have the scenes, you write those suckers down before they dissipate. Don't forget, anything you write during NaNoWriMo will need editing *S*. The projects are both post- and pre-November.

Nope. You should definitely sketch them up at least. It would just be a VERY detailed outline. And capture the key dialog - that is so hard to get back once it's gone.

My problem is that I have two books in progress (one's about 10% and the other about 15% complete) that I *really* want to finish, but then there's this other book that I haven't started at all - a mystery/horror kind of thing about a really strange house, that keeps showing up, but without any real plot or people associated with it.

Write them and invoke the Zokutou Clause. (http://www.zokutou.co.uk/theclause.html)

Don't loose it!!!!

If you absolutely can't write (which is crazy!!!) what about voice recorder? It takes a little getting use to but it's a real life saver so you don't loose all those wonderful ideas.

I guess I'm not big on rules when it comes to creative surges, but I say go ahead and write the scenes. As long as you write 50K* of the total project during November, that should be close enough for government work. :-) If I'm crazy enough to sign up for it this year, I know I won't follow the "don't edit" edict. I just can't NOT fix obvious problems. So, I'm a cheater. hehehe I doubt I'll sign up though, since I'm going to have a busy November, what with school, a regular book, and oh, yeah...giving birth.

*(As if you're going to have any trouble making 50K in a month.)
