What are you thankful for today?

I'm thankful for my kids. They're great people, haven't ever been in trouble, and we love each other very much.

I'm thankful for my kitties...even if two of them did wake me up at 5:30 this morning. They're good little guys, we give each other lots of hugs, and we love each other lots.

I'm thankful that I'm able to write, even when I don't think I'm good enough. I love it and couldn't live without it ever.

I'm thankful that, in spite of the fact that I have a couple of problems that could be dangerous left unchecked, I'm basically a healthy person and that these problems are under MY control. I'm not under theirs.

I'm thankful for friends, particularly all the wonderful people I've met here on LJ. You folks rock!

I'm thankful that I have a job, even though it's rough sometimes.

I'm thankful that I'm off work for FOUR days.

I'm thankful I have a home, a car, and enough food to eat. There were times that I didn't.

I'm thankful that today is another day, that it's just starting, and there are many wonders to discover still.

Well, I guess this morning, I can blame it on two of the cats and the fact that, once my brain realized it was close to daylight (5:30), it started thinking it would be nice to get up and work on writing while the kids are still asleep.

I can always take a nap later.

But, now that I've passed 73,000 words, I think I have to stop and find something small to eat until kids wake up and I can fix the quiche.

Mmmmm....quiche.

I wonder if I have any string cheeses left.

This is going to be a super lazy day. :)

I'm surrounded by adoring cats and talking kids now, so any effort at concentration is going out the window.

I passed my morning goal of 75,000 words, though, and have written about 3,000 words, so I suppose it's no great loss if I enjoy some down time.

But, now that I've passed the 75,000 goal, I can stop and go make quiche. I think I'm going make two, actually. One for now. One for later.

Yummy.

Youngest son and I made quiche.

Actually, we made two.

And I modified the recipe for Casa Smith standards.

::snicker::

It should be good stuff.

Only 15 more minutes to wait.

Yummy.

My quiches turned out a million times better than I could have ever anticipated.

I am a changer. I never make a recipe the way it's written. I start with a recipe and then change it to be what I want it to be.

And, this is EXACTLY what I wanted.

OMG, so much goodness.

And, since I never have any time, I modified to use ingredients that took no time at all to throw together.

Yummy. Yummy. I think I'm going to have more.

So, the duck didn't thaw enough to cook it today. I mean, yeah, I could run it under cold water, but it's not like I don't have something else good to cook.

So, duck is going on hold until Sunday.

Tonight, we're going to have:

seasoned pork chops
stuffing
mashed potatoes/baked potatoes (oldest son likes baked better than mashed)
rolls
green peas/lima beans (kids won't eat lima beans with me)
apple pie
sugar free French vanilla ice cream

Yummy.

I probably won't start dinner until around 4:30. It's quiet and I'm alone in this room, so I'm going to write some more before we eat.

Hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving.

I think I might hit the video games later. :)

Thank heavens.

I'm exhausted. Also have an ear ache and a tooth ache (the tooth I broke), so I'm ready to hit the sack.

However, the day was great. I cooked a couple of great meals.

Watched Batman Begins and Jurassic Park tonight, and had a generally great day.

Also snuck some words in. Granted, they're sucky words, but they're words nonetheless.

7,857 words today
