Oh, that's right...I don't get a vacation...and it's been a year since I even had a day off sick...other than the traditional holidays. Sigh...need a vacation BADLY.

However, since I am at least getting out of town next weekend, maybe that'll help.

Got to get rid of bad attitude. It's not bad about everything. Bad about work, but work deserves it. Bad about writing, though, and I don't know if writing deserves it or not. Maybe writing sucks as much as I think it does. Who knows?

Didn't want to write again. I was just toooooo exhausted and wanted to rest and relax. It's a cumulative thing, I think. By the time the weekend hits, I'm all out of gas.

I did write, though. It's this dang determination thing, I guess. I refuse to be a lazy-on-the-weekend accountant when I could work toward being a crappy writer...maybe to ultimately work toward being a decent writer? Maybe. I wonder if that's possible.

But, I'm rambling. I think that means I need to sleep. Must sleep. Need sleep.

Ooooh, hiking! Now, THAT sounds nice!

Do you have a good place to hike? Lots of nice fall weather?

Sadly, there's not much good hiking right around where I live in LA, but I'm getting out of town and up to Nevada over the weekend, and hoping to at least drive through Red Rock Canyon there. That's closer to nature than I get here.

This is a gorgeous place to live in the Fall--we're in the Blue Ridge Mountains within an easy drive of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail, and two national forests (Jefferson and Shenandoah). The place we went is called the Cascades--it's two miles through gorgeous woods, beside countless waterfalls, culminating in a 66-foot-high waterfall that forms a big, shallow, wadeable pool.

I felt like I was walking through a Tolkien novel especially in the last half-mile (that'll be the title of my LJ entry about it)--my fellow quest-ers and me walking alongside gorgeous greens mixed with fall colors, huge roaring waterfalls, and stone steps lined by stone walls. I'll definitely be posting pictures of the hike when I can!
