I've only posted once to my Live Journal, and I'd seriously like to get into the habit of posting. I've always had plans for keeping handwritten journals, and have never kept up with that either.

I'm thinking this might be a good way to keep track of what I've written per day, instead of using the Excel spreadsheed I started, and maybe I can even keep track of some thoughts here that I might return to later.

Don't know. I know I enjoy reading other people's posts and thoughts on life and, of course, on writing. I just never feel like I have anything interesting to post myself. And, I guess I'm mostly too private a person to really rant on things...though it might be really good therapy to rant about work on bad days. Maybe it'll help deal with the stress.

Work rants are always fun. :)

I think it would be theraputic, especially given how pointy your boss's hair is. Also, less likely to get you imprisoned than beating them to death with a clue stick.

I've gotten in the habit of posting a lot of "progress reports" about how much writing I've done...mainly for my own future reference, but I do try to throw in extra comments every now and then so my Friend Of list doesn't start shrinking in proportion to how often I post those. :)

Do you find that progress reports help you keep track of how much you've accomplished and where you're going with your work?

Do they ever discourage you?

Yes. :)

A lot of it depends on my mood. If I've written a lot they encourage me to do more--if I feel like I haven't done much they encourage me to do more. Usually. If I'm feeling pessimistic I think, "I should have done more than that"...especially if I go for a couple of days without writing at all.

Oddly enough, where I get most discouraged isn't the "New Words" or "Reason For Stopping", but rather the "Exercise" category. That's where I invariably feel like I'm not doing enough!
