Catching Up

It's about time I tried to get caught up on word counts again. I think mid-February was the last time I posted any.

I tried to round up what I'd written, but I don't think I found it all. Still, this is better than nothing.

Today's words are all on Angel in Waiting with a few on, uh, One Clear Voice. I think that's it.

Angel in Waiting

1,119 words today

(13.0%)

One Clear Voice

1,059 words - some today

(7.4%)

Dumps, Dives & Divas

180 words

(25.3%)

Illegal Aliens

148 words

(29.9%)

Queen of the Skies - novel

140 words

There were some Queen of the Skies screenplay words, too, but I don't feel like saving it into .rtf and counting them. I can't count them in .scw format.

So, less than illustrious month-to date totals:

March 2007 Word Count Progress:

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
2,646 / 31,000
(8.5%)

And terrible year-to-date totals:

2007 Word Count Progress:

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
31,119 / 600,000
(5.2%)

However, I expect those not-so-glowing numbers to improve. I just have to work through the feeling sorry for myself for not being a better writer and then plunge ahead full-force again, knowing that the more I write, hopefully the better I get.

Working up to that. There's just this dang fear that's hard to get over, you know. The fear of sucking. The fear of what if I never get better? The fear that, why do I honestly think some of what I write is okay and why am I proud of it when others hate it? Am I blind? Am I stupid? What the heck is my problem?

Once I figure that out, I'm good to go. I just need to know WHERE to go and how/what to learn, you know?

have you tried the OWW? it's an online workshop for sci-fi/fantasy/horror. the first month's free, and then it's just $50 a year. good use of birthday money! and you crit other people's stuff, they crit yours, it's full of awesome.

anyway, it helped me grow from "dust off your grammar books" to "mediocre with moments of brillance" - which is something akin to a miracle. :D
