Malik was sleeping up on the monitor when [livejournal.com profile] manga_queen brought me some Wheat Thins to tide me over until dinner was ready. (I was starting to get a little shaky.)

I bought 5 grain Wheat Thins cause I had a coupon to get them for 99 cents at Albertsons.

As soon as I took a couple out of the box, Malik's head snapped up and he sniffed the air. Ultimately, he came down on my keyboard and was very nice to type orange nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn's across the first page of the novel I'm editing. (I make changes in colors.)

He wanted one of my crackers, so I let him sniff it, then lick it, then he took it in his mouth and wandered off with it.

He couldn't get a bite, though, so I coaxed him down and broke it up for him.

He liked it.

I mean, he's always liked buttery Town House and Club crackers, but I was surprised to discover that he liked these.

He's so funny.

And I'm so easily amused.

Probably because I've been fighting this scene to make it what I want it to be so I can send the freaking partial off to the agent who requested it!!!

Argh!

I once had a rabbit that liked ham sandwiches - I mean - aren't rabbits supposed to be vegetarian?

Maybe it was descended from the killer rabbit from Monty Python's Holy Grail movie? ;)

Oh, maybe! This was a BIG rabbit with back legs big enough to give a person a GOOD thump, so she could have been.

She gave birth to MONSTER babies, too. One tried to...snicker...hump a cat.

Animals' bizarre favorite foods.

My family had a rabbit who loved spaghetti. We lived out in the middle of the woods and the rabbit just wandered around loose (she was solid white and showed up from a distance; I have no idea how she never got eaten by a hawk or bobcat) -- when she disappeared for a few days we would cook spaghetti and she'd be at the front door in minutes.

Around the same time we had a little white cat who ate raw potatoes. He'd dig one out of the bag, take it to the corner of the pantry, and gnaw on it. He would keep going back and taking a few bites until it was gone after a few days, and then he'd get another one out of the bag.

And my dog has a thing for ginger snaps. I usually have some in a jar on the counter, and I can't open the jar without her coming over and doing the Happy Dog Dance around my legs until I give her one. She doesn't get half as excited over things that dogs are supposed to like -- dog treats, meat scraps, etc.

Aww! It's amazing what pets will eat. This Christmas we discovered that my parents' dog loves raw sprouts. They'd left a stalk of sprouts in the garage because it's about the same temperature in there as inside the fridge, and beore they culd stop him Patch had started to eat them. He was a very smelly dog about four hours later. Not pleasant :P

Wheat Thins? Yeah, that's a little weird for a cat. LOL... Maybe Malik is on the health kick with you!
