When it Rains...

It pours!

Literally.

I was awakened around 4:40 by a ginormous clap of THUNDER this morning.

That was it. Just one.

How disappointing, you know?

But, then the bottom dropped out and it poured for a while.

I love the sound of pouring rain, so I got up instead of going back to sleep for 35 minutes.

It tapered off after a while, but now it's pouring again.

For most of you, I'm sure rain isn't a big deal, but it's just such a treat out here in soCal. Especially since I grew up back east where it rained LOTS. Even after living out here for over 25 years, I still miss it.

Very nice way to start the day...

Even if I do have to work today.

I also love the sound of rain. We have a tin roof so it really hammers down, lovely. :)

We get tons of thunderstorms, and my one dog, who grew up in Cape Town where lightning is very uncommon, is terrified. At the slightest grumble of thunder she breaks into the house and hides under the couch.

I was woken by the same one! Unfortunately, it also woke up youngest daughter and it was necessary to go cuddle with her a while. Still, very nice with the rain coming down.

I wish it would have rained all day long. Thunder and lightning would have been better. But alas, Mother Nature is content to merely tease us with little spittles of rain. *wistful sigh*

Some rainy days are nice, even here in NYC area:)
