Pretty Productive Night
Dec. 13th, 2006 09:53 pmI managed to get a review done for OWW tonight. Hooray!
I also managed to get more editing done on my partial. Sent it through the daughter reader and the oldest son reader.
manga_queen reads the same kinds of books I do--more than I do cause she has more time--so she can judge content as well as proof reading and pointing out things that don't jive. Oldest son is a perfectionist and writes flawless essays. He's great with grammar and proof-reading.
Except for one lack of comma that I'd been waffling about (thinking I needed one...and I did), the section I worked on made it past both of them. Hooray!
Of course, that doesn't mean the pages don't need more work, but I'm satisfied for now and glad it made it past both of them. They know to be hard.
Uh...was I going to say something else?
Yes, I was, but I got side-tracked by something daughter is showing oldest son on TV.
We watched an hour of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on cable tonight. Didn't know it was on before that point. I really enjoyed what I saw. Want to see the rest.
Oh, I remember what I wanted to say (sad to be old, don't you know).
One thing I got a first-hand look at recently was someone I know editing the life out of their story. Now that I've seen that, I don't ever want to obsess to the point of doing that myself.
For me, editing is mostly fleshing things out cause the story is often lean from writing it quickly. I also edit for flow cause I am soooo picky about flow. I like the sentences to all make sense and roll of my tongue as well.
So maybe I'm making progress that I'm pleased with, which is rather cool.
Maybe I can do this.
I'm enjoying it at any rate, and that's what counts.
