So, like other folks on LJ, I'm already getting excited about NaNoWriMo. Only a month to go.

Hopefully, the OT will ease down to a manageable level so I can get my plotting and a tentative chapter list done before the month of November starts.

My project is going to be City of Fallen Stars and will be set in my ongoing series. It's possible that it will be a sequel to Gateway to Eternity, which I hope to complete in novel form this month.

Each year, I've made more progress than the year before.

2004 - Completed NaNo with 50,534 words on Yami No Tenshi

2005 - Completed NaNo with 102,041 words Xanali

As of this date, Yami No Tenshi is not complete because I decided to finish the novels that come before it first.

Xanali is one of those novels and was finished just this past January 2006.

This year, I hope to start and complete City of Fallen Stars during the month of November.

While this hasn't been one of my biggest word count years to date because of a number of problems this year, things could always look up by next month.

I'm going to remain optomistic.

Those of you who are going to participate in NaNo...what are you working on?

EDIT: Thank you SO MUCH to [livejournal.com profile] kuroshii who pointed out that I was so tired last night I posted wrong years. Heh. I was so tired. I've gone back and corrected them now (I think), so I'm living in the right year and not a time shift. Heh.

Witchy Tale of Magnificent Proportions or rather I have no title yet

A quaint coming of age tale about a girl and her dead witch grandmother. They join forces to send a cross dressing demon back to the firey pits of hell.

:)

I just finsihed the second draft of my second novel, JOHNNY GRUESOME. It was nanoo-nanoo project--three years ago! I kind of got sidetracked on, like, the second day, and never recovered...

OK now i know you're working too much overtime...your years are off by one. it's only 2006 now. so you can't have done nano 2006 already, and last january wasn't 2007.

::hugs::

i want to throttle your upper management. i suspect i'll have to get in line!

I thought I was going to do NaNo, but after losing an entire afternoon plowing through old notes and story snippets I really don't think I can wait!

So I suspect while I'll be writing like a madwoman, cribbing off the NaNo energy -- I'll be starting sometime in the next couple days.

The story is pure-D space opera. Government agents arrested and tried for treason, escape off world, take up a life of smuggling, and fall in love with each other. :)

I'm looking forward to it *so* much!

I think I told you my plans, but they've since changed. I'm going to be writing Starved, a romance that I outlined back in January.

It's great that you were able to finish your NaNo project, even if it wasn't during NaNo. :)

Whoa! You're right. I went back and changed it. :)

The night I posted that, I was lucky to even hit the right decade!!! I was seriously EXHAUSTED!

Ooooh, that sounds like such a great story! I'd love to read it if you use beta readers!

Last year, it was really hard for me to wait for NaNo, but I did.

This year, I have something I'm working on, which is fortunate. It keeps me from getting an early jump and losing out on NaNo.

Are you having as much fun writing this novel as you expected?

What's it about?

It's hard to wait for November, isn't it?

Hehe..... Actually, because I have a self-imposed goal of finishing the current round of edits on Mysterious Paris, November seems far too close.

Starved is a humorous romance, inspired by a post by [livejournal.com profile] martini13 complaining about the difficulties of having a romantic life while living with her elderly mother.

That sounds like a great story!

Like you, I'm trying to finish something this month, before starting NaNo next month, but I always look forward to NaNo, and get anxious to start as it grows closer.

I understand! I haven't done nano since 2003 (when I completed the first draft of Mysterious Paris, so I'm really looking forward to starting something new.

Oh, no, never be nervous to send anything to me. I'm totally non-threatening. :)

And, seriously, if you never need a second set of eyes (don't we all?), I'm here. Okay?

Your story sounds like a great idea.

What do you think it is about NaNo that really entices people? The comraderie? The challenge?

Why do people get so excited about it?
