I know Most Writers Play Music When They're Writing...

But, I often pick movies that inspire me...even if they don't have anything to do what I'm writing at that particular moment.

Writing is about feelings to me. How I feel about what I'm writing, how caught up I am in the emotions of the story. Evoking moods in my writing and about the involvement between characters and stories.

I have my favorites for evoking various moods.

But, here's today's line-up.

First, I watched Chronicles of Narnia.

Now, the Wizard of Oz.

Next will probably be Day After Tomorrow.

And then either The Core.

Or Advent Children.

Either way, I'll end up with Advent Children.

And, yes, there IS a method to my madness.

I need quiet, the more the better. My fantasy would be to be able to write in complete silence.

I sometimes read books between writing. Or listen to music.

I love Advent Children. So much style, so much fun.

I will occasionally play movie scenes that have big musical scores.

It doesn't necessarily mean the movie is good; one of my regular soundtracks is The Postman, for instance. On the somewhat better side you have King Arthur, or (sliding scale again) Narnia or Gladiator (the latter of which I liked better than most). But there's something about a sweeping orchestra that fills me with energy and, at the very least, can give me the gusto to add another hour or two to my writing day.
