Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.

I think I'm back.
At least part time.
::HUGS::
Missed everybody.
I want you to know that LJ only goes back 1,000 posts, and I have 309 people on my FL.
So, anybody want to tell me what they've been up to over the past two weeks? I'd love to catch up.
Then I'll tell you what I've been up to.
::snore::
Nothing exciting.
But some of it good.
Or...I wouldn't be back part time. :)

Date: 2006-08-13 02:15 am (UTC)I was so sorry to hear about your father's passing. How are you doing, Chris?
Congratulations on the completion of your book! That's AWESOME!
Thanks vor your condolences..........
Date: 2006-08-13 02:29 am (UTC)PS--Thanks for the congrats on the book. I'm very happy with how it came out. If you'd like to read it, feel free to email me privately (my email is available to my flist buddies) and I can send you a copy. I guess I'll look for agents next. It's a daunting task since I don't know anyone in the business. Any suggestions?
Re: Thanks vor your condolences..........
Date: 2006-08-13 02:40 am (UTC)It's always difficult when a loved one dies. Even when we expect it.
My father died nine years ago this month. He had cancer and lived in Tennessee, when I lived in Las Vegas. I talked to him one weekend and his cancer was in remission. I called the next weekend and he'd died during the week.
It's never easy.
I'm so sorry you're having to go through it.
Do you have to move soon? Or do you have some time?
I'd LOVE to read your novel. If you don't mind sending it, my e-mail is janicessmith@att.net.
Have you looked at http://www.agentquery.com for agents that handle your genre?
Unfortunately, yes........
Date: 2006-08-13 02:50 am (UTC)PS--Thanks for agreeing to read my book. I will send it out this week. I've looked at that site. I dunno, I guess I'll type up some query letters. It just seems like a 'potluck' as to who would be interested in my work. Again, I appreciate your support! It means alot to me. *hugs back*

Is it at Barnes & Noble, too? I have to go over there to pick my youngest son up a book for school. I'll look for your book, too!

I printed out Desert Home of Eagles (both parts) from OWW last night, BTW. I read it last night and this morning and LOVE the story.
I'm going to try to get up a review for you in the next day or two.
I have to finish a class assignment before I can do anything else!

Date: 2006-08-13 02:27 am (UTC)The characters are very deep and well-developed and I loved the interaction between them and the progression of the story.
I can't wait to get some thoughts down for you.
I remember watching your LJ posts as you wrote the story and am thrilled that I got to read it.

How've you been?

Date: 2006-08-13 03:37 am (UTC)I also had a couple of breakthrough ideas on my story (at last!) and I now have better character motivation and something that is looking more like a plot emerging.

There are also aunts & uncles, and the cousins' kids and spouses. And that's just my mom's side. ;)

Date: 2006-08-13 02:35 am (UTC)Ooooh, I love pumpkin vines. I hope you get some great pumpkins in your yard this fall. Have they started developing beneath the flowers yet?
I didn't realize there was a Lord of the Rings musical. Was it any good?

Date: 2006-08-13 01:53 pm (UTC)I don't see punpkins yet, but have to check the flowers more closely.
The "Lord of the Rings" musical premiered in Toronto. It did not get good reviews (or do as well as required for the cost of production) and is scheduled to close way early - September 3. It's supposed to reopen in Lond next year.
Parts of the LOTR musical were very good, but it was overly ambitious in attempting to cover the entire trilogy. The songs weren't catchy enough to remember after the show - which bothered some people, although I didn't find that a failing.
I was going to pass on this show, having known all these faults (and being aware of the high ticket price), but I'm on the producers' email list, and they had a spectacular price for the Canadian August long weekend ($20 CDN for any seat). At that price I was satisfied with being entertained - and it was quite entertaining. I loved the hobbit party right before the opening, the "you are there" experience of the fight against the Balrog, and the ending (which was true to the books, rather than to the movie).

Date: 2006-08-13 02:51 am (UTC)Cutting out soda is hard, isn't it? I had a hard time switching to diet a couple of years ago. It's for the best, though.
How many kids do you have in school?
My oldest goes back to college on Monday. My daughter starts college in two weeks, and my youngest goes back to high school two weeks from Wednesday.

Date: 2006-08-13 03:02 am (UTC)My biggest prob with the no-soda is fatigue. No headaches (Thank god) but I'm sooo sleepy (of course that might be because of my workouts). I'm finding I'm not really thirsty for soda and am starting to reach for my water without cringing.
I have five kids in school this year; 7th grade (step-son), 2nd grade, 1st, K & pre-k. They are sooo excited especially the youngest, she is just thrilled she'll be going to school like her big brothers. It'll be weird, just me and the baby at home during the day. Yeah, big family :)
