It's Amazing What That Title Can Do
Jul. 2nd, 2006 10:21 pmOkay, so it's not just the title.
The title was icing on the cake and probably actually came about because of other things that have fallen into place.
More plotting. More insights and observations.
I'm going to put together some worksheets that I can fill in with background material and novel structure stuff and see how that works for all my novels now.
I can write scattered scenes, but I definitely am happier and more productive with things plotted and planned.
I've decided that A Million Shades of Light is going to be both a screenplay AND a novel. That, of course, leaves me with an emotional dilemma and a possible legal one if I ever was able to sell it.
However, what I'm hoping, and what seems to be most likely with spec screenplays is that they're used as a writing sample to get an agent and/or writing assignments. Not many actually sell.
That's what I want to use this for. I don't want to have to barter to keep the rights to my own series characters and I am definitely NOT going to sell them outright.
I could, of course, change names and situations a little, if I had to. And, then I wouldn't mind giving up rights as much. I'd still have my characters and other situations.
Actually being able to get the novel published would change the situation, too.
But, at any rate, since neither is anywhere near complete, I don't have to worry about that now, do I?
For today, screenplay progress:
A Million Shades of Light
2,126 words today (11 pages)
I'm too tired to bother with monthly and annual meters tonight. I'll catch up on those later.
Time for bed.
Good night all.
