The tired has really caught up with me this weekend, but I'm still doing better as far as remaining hopeful and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I will get through this and get rested and hopefully get back to being as productive as I once was.

Had a nap this afternoon. Going to sleep now and hope I can feel much better by the end of the long weekend.

Celestial Warriors has been a surprise novel. It wasn't something I'd intended to start on and certainly not something that I thought would take the place of other projects I was working on.

And, yet, it has come to life with a vibrancy that has me astounded. It encompasses aspects I never expected to be able to include in my series and has given me the opportunity to explore some unique possibilities that shed new lights on mankind and its interaction with alien cultures.

I have a question for you...when you make those word meter things, how do you determine what your goal is?

See, I never have any clue how long my books will go. I'd like to write shorter ones, because it's hard to publish the massive tomes I tend to churn out, but even when I hack back they're still huge. And when I start, I don't know whether it'll be 100,000 or 300,000. I have outlines in place but stuff fills out and the words explode all over.

So how do you know? Do you tailor your writing to the goal, or do you just know that that's probably what the story will take, or do you just know yourself and that that's what you'll probably write?
