Choose My Own Adventure?

Last night, I slept well. Extremely well. It was a lovely sleep that left me feeling happy this morning, in spite of the fact that I have to go face work.

It wasn't ENOUGH sleep, but the quality of it was good. I woke up only once, at 3:45, and went back to sleep, even though I had to rise at 4:30.

During that time, I had a dream. A marvelous, wonderful dream, with an epic feel to it.

But, alas, when the alarm went off at 4:30, I was only midway through. I don't know the ending!

It left me feeling wonderful, with the need to know what happened.

However, I don't remember the beginning now. Only a scene from right before I woke up.

So, I feel like I'm left with a "choose your own adventure" book, and so much possibility to turn this dream into a story or use it in one I already have going.

I've often written from dreams. I dream vividly and in color; and it's mostly lucid dreaming. The character of Eliahu, Lord of the Iron Glacier, in My Sister's Keeper, originated in a dream. The attack by the harpies in the same novel came from a different dream. Dreams can be awesome sources of inspiration.

Oh, I love those dreams! I love that feeling, waking up with them, and thinking about them, and they always turn into stories... Even if you don't remember all of it, that emotion is enough.
