Since I don't have a paid LJ, I have to just ask it the hard way.

What's the highest gas price you've seen in your area?

What's the lowest gas price you've seen in your area?

I'm wondering what the rest of the country is like right now.

EDIT: Heck. I'm wondering what the rest of the world is like right now. What are gas prices like in other countries, folks?

I don't have hard numbers. I have the sense that it's been between $2.40 and $3.00 here, and I can't recall seeing either number recently, only stuff between.

Our current prices in Eastern NY, near the MA border, are between $2.99 and $3.10. We bounced up as high as about $3.06 at the cheap places before it slid back down again to settle at the current low. MA was running about 5-10 cents cheaper ON THE HIGHWAY. *sighs*

What's it like out your way?

Here in the Midwest (Cincinnati, Ohio) premium gas went up to $3.05 or something a couple of weeks ago. Since then, it's come back down a bit. I filled up the van yesterday with regular and paid $2.72 a gallon. Wicked!

At the moment, average fuel prices here in the UK are 95p/l (£4.31 or $8.04 per gallon) for unleaded, and 98.4p/l (£4.47 or $8.34 per gallon) for diesel.

Driving a diesel car that's all I look out for, but the highest and lowest prices I've seen recently are 95.9p/l (£4.35 or $8.11 per gallon), and the highest is £1.03/l (£4.68 or $8.73 per gallon).

You guys have it easy.

tell me about it. i look at you guys, paying over $3 per gallon (even adjusting for our crummy dollar) for something like decades now, and it makes us look like a bunch of whiners.

I'd like to see someone who runs a Hummer over there try the same thing here for a couple of months! It'd be a shock, let's put it that way. 19mpg at $8/gallon soon racks up ($2.38/mile by my maths).

I hate that that section of society just sticks its head in the sand over fuel consumption, pollution, etc - in any country. I particularly hate "Chelsea Tractors", big 4x4s used as school run vehicles to take kids less than a mile. Just buy a MPV (mini-van?) or station wagon, or let the little dears walk for wossname's sake! /rant

Regular unleaded is hovering at 2.99 here in Gainesville right now. It's like the gas stations are nervous about raising it that one extra cent.

In central Virginia, we're hovering right about $2.89 a gallon for the cheap stuff, 20 cents more for high test. What [livejournal.com profile] nice_guy_but said; we're spoiled. And greedy.

Columbus, Ohio was up to 2.94 for the cheap stuff at the discount stations. Yesterday prices dropped down to 2.64 at a couple of stations. It went down 30 cents overnight. I hope it is still there today.

Yeesh, you guys have cheap gas! LoL

As of yesterday in the Seattle WA area, it was running about 3.11 low in the rural areas for regular unleaded, and inner city highs of about 3.30.

I'm glad I have my bus pass. *lets her car sleep in the driveway*

About 2.75 a gallon here in KY.

In Europe it's very expensive and always has been. That, combined with a marked space problem, means they buy itty bitty cars for the most part. I would love to see that happen here.

The lowest in town in the last week: $2.74. Highest: $2.89. Out by the airport it's $2.90.

I'm on my way to rural Michigan this weekend, but my relatives already tell me it's higher there.

At this point, I don't drive many miles, but the lowest price I've seen is $3.35, and that's at Shell, at Vermont and Hollywood. Elsewhere I've seen $3.45 in S.F. Valley.

This week in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, gas is about 96.8 cents (Canadian dollars)/Litre. Last week it was about $104.6/Litre.

Translation: there are 3.785 litres per US gallon and today, the Canadian Dollar is converting at about 0.927 US dollars.

That means, our gas is: $3.40 per US gallon today. And last week it was about $3.67.

In New Zealand, about $1.70 per liter (=$6.50 per gallon)

Hah. Betcha I win!

Damn, nice_guy_but in the UK has me beat if we convert into US dollars.

But us overseas folks don't earn US dollars, remember. A gearhead in the US might earn US$50,000 per year and spend US$3 per gallon on gas. The same gearhead in NZ would earn NZ$50,000, which equates to maybe US$28,000, and spend NZ$6.50 per gallon on petrol. So proportionally a lot more of his salary would go on petrol.

Thankcod you converted that. I was about to figure it all out but thought I'd check the comments first. Yay for another Kiwi!

So: BLOODY HELL. THAT is how expensive our petrol is?!?!

As of yesterday, AU$1.39 per liter, or roughly US$3.75 per gallon.

It costs me about AU$75.00 to fill my car. Ouch. Long, long ago (okay, only fifteen years ago), it only took me $10 to fill my car.

Ain't nobody allowed to complain until they pay the highest, not in your county, but in the world.

Proportionally, how much has petrol gone up in the last few years? Like in Oz, NZ petrol has increased quite a bit. In 2002 it cost me NZ$40 to fill my tank; last week it was NZ$85.
