That just about says it all.
One thing I notice about the extended commute is that it makes it feel like I've been through TWO days, instead of one, by the time I get home.
Tonight, I didn't get home until around 7:30, but I can blame part of that on youngest son's dress rehearsal for the play he's in at school.
Then, once I got home, kitties all wanted mommy time, making it hard to type. Kitty Malik and I had an accident. :(
The THIRD time he jumped into my arms, he caught one back leg on my shirt and freaked. While I was trying to get him un-caught, he turned and snapped...and caught me on the mouth. So, now I have kitty bite on my bottom lip.
However, he felt really bad about it and kept standing up beside my chair to pat my leg and "talk" to me. I love kitty "talk".
Anyway, I'm making progress on Phantom Song, so I'm going to be a trooper and not complain. I'm back to writing every day in spite of real life, which pleases me to no end. However, I feel like I'm slogging through quicksand, fighting NOT to get sucked down.
I'm not accomplishing a lot of words, but I do have words at least. It's very frustrating because the story is pretty well-developed and I could have had twice as many words by now if I was still working my old job.
I'm not, though, and I'm determined to make this all work, so I'm just going to keep going and see how things turn out.
Next week should be easier. Youngest is on Spring Break, so I get to come straight home. I should be home (in theory and with NO rain) by 5:30 every night...though I have to take oldest to college on Tuesday and Thursday.
Still...it's better and I'm thankful for such favors.
I'm already ahead of last month on words, so I can't complain. And, I'm still determined to hit that 1,000,000 word goal this year. Things'll smooth out. Sometimes, it just takes a while.

Date: 2006-04-12 06:09 am (UTC)I used to commute extensively when I was studying, spending hours in the train daily. It's exhausting. I hope you can find another solution soon.
