That when I got to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions this afternoon, they were OUT of metformin?

The pharmacist looks at me with this blank look and says, "You've got more, right?"

And, I tell her, "No, that's why I came to pick some up."

So, she says no more until tomorrow. Afternoon.

Okay. Right. So, I'll tell my blood sugar to behave until tomorrow afternoon.

Right.

Sigh.

BUT....

My oldest had no classes today and didn't have to work at the high school, so he made dinner, and I came home to a really YUMMY ham.

Aaaugghh--have her call another pharmacy!

A responsible pharmacist will call another pharmacy in that chain (or, failing this, another it is affiliated with) and transfer your prescription or at least authorize the other pharmacist to let you bring your empty bottle with prescription stuck to it and toss in two or three pills to cover you for tonight! See if you can get the pharmacy manager or the actual pharmacist (not a clerk or assistant) on the phone before they close tonight! Most chains have at least one 24-hour pharmacy in each metro area, and that 24-hour location can give you a couple of pills for tonight (if you take at night, the way I do.) Then they'll just subtract those from your total when they fill the new bottle. Hurry and see if you can get this straightened out.

Definitely seconding this. Barring that, she can give you a brand name (if you get the generic) and only charge you the generic price. Bully your way up to the pharmacy manager if you have to.

Mine has done that to me before. With birth control pills.

Luckily I did have a day or so left.

Seriously, it sounds like you had an utter crap day. I'm sorry, Miss J. Tomorrow is a new day and I really hope it's better for you than this one.
