As Far As I Can See, There's Only One Bad Thing About Days Off

And, that is how difficult it is to resist the impulse to go through the apartment top to bottom and CLEAN, scrubbing every single corner until it shines like the brightest star in the heavens.

But, there's a flip side advantage to that if you're like me. And, that is, physical work begats creative work and vice-versa, so it's like stoking the engine to create once the cleaning is done. Plus, a great work environment, full of clean energy makes for some great writing. At least it does for me. Great=lots of writing.

Yesterday, I didn't feel all that well, so I went to breakfast, edited lots, played video games for many hours, then went to the mall for sugar free chocolates and a soundtrack from Tower Records. Found some gifts for my sister along the way. Then, the evening was spent in typical Thursday fashion, running around, chauffering kids from one place to another until I got home and typed some edits in on Wildfire.

One of these days, I most post my word counts. I was too tired last night.

Today...sigh...today, a novel idea that sparked yesterday fell into COMPLETE place and I hand wrote a synopsis for it while at breakfast.

So, naturally, the creativity makes me want to clean when I get home. I've started going through closets, pulling out clothes we can't wear any more to take to Salvation Army. Must do it when kids are gone so they can't say they'll wear it again (when they haven't even looked at it in five years!).

After that, who knows?

Except that I typed in more edits on Wildfire this morning and must finish that. Must write a new synopsis for it, too, cause I decided to change the plot. Hence all the rewriting and adding new stuff. I don't think it'll hit the 85,000 projected word count, though. Maybe 80,000. Definitely a short book for me.

I'm really resisting the urge to start on the new novel. It's going to be a novel I totally fall in love with like Xanali, which turned into Out of the Darkness plus Xanali has been. I'm in love with the story already and it so ties together certain elements of my universe. I couldn't have asked for a more cohesive plot.

Perhaps I will content myself to plot point it while I'm working on Wildfire, then allow myself to tackle it when it's so ready that the words will leap from my brain and onto the paper...er, computer screen...or, should that be, keyboard?

I need a big project for April, anyway. Maybe then. :)

Back to cleaning. Want to get lots done today.

I am not proud to say I am NOTHING like you.

But hey, if you'd like to recharge by coming over and cleaning MY place until it sparkles, be my guest. I suspect you might get as many as twelve new novels out of that venture. :/ (I'm right past the end of the 91 freeway - very easy to get to. Wanna Mapquest link? And I'll provide the mops and paper towels. *g*)

Despite my environmental chaos, my mind is surprisingly fertile right now, but that's because it's been stirred up by perceived OMG COMPETITION with another fanfic writer who's penning something somewhat similar to a concept I already had copious notes on, just hadn't actually started to write yet. I'm sure devinharris would be happy to fill you in with the snarky details. Between telling us writers are strange beasts, that is. Which is nothing we didn't already know.

Sadly, sniffle, I didn't hit the sparkling stage here. I kinda crashed and burned. Might have done too much and hit the low blood sugar stage. Not sure.

Wow...I need 12 new novels. I've slowed down over the past month, and that's bad.

Ooooh, competition. That does wonders for a writer's motivation, doesn't it? Possibly why I join things like NaNoWriMo and anything similar. I love those goals.

So, have you finished with your notes? Are you ready to start writing yet? I'm assuming it's Dragon Quest fanfic? Might I read, please, when you're finished?

I have a teeny short story in mind. A death and resurrection one with lots of angst and emotion. And, I've just passed Ascantha. No further. I hate to think how many ideas I'll have by the time I pass the game. (I'm a level builder. That's why I'm only that far. That, and lack of time.)

We are rather odd, aren't we? But, that's why we love writing, yes?

I love creative energy to whirl. Lately, I've been tired and my energy only whirls certain times of day. :(

What soundtrack did you buy?

The movie version of Phantom of the Opera. I'd been listening to the Broadway version and wanted the movie version, too.

And, yay for a new synopsis! Must be something in the air - I've got the start of a new one brewing too (a conspiracy, I tell you! The editing faeries are being plotted against by the synopsis faeries!).

I like writing synopsis because the project is all laid out in writing to fall in love with before starting.

Probably when something else needs doing, or when you're trying to sleep, huh?

Especially when I'm trying to sleep. Or when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Other times, I seem to be stifling myself with doubts.

Well, I'd like to tell you, but I'm still not sure....I'm just figuring out the elements I think I'm going to use, and I *might* have a main character...maybe!

I am a terrible housekeeper, and I never seem to have the problem of needing to clean over writing. In fact, I'm so far behind in what I want to write that my characters are getting ahead of themselves, having brilliant conversations while I'm driving or at the supermarket, that I feel I'll never catch up.

You can come over my house next time you have the mad urge to clean.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna try to write enough to earn enough to pay for a maid. Three more gigs per month should do it.

Hey never underestimate the creative powers in cleaning. LOL... I find that when I want to put off writing, I clean! ;-)
