I love my new cell phone. The fact that I got it for free with my new family plan is an extra added bonus.

(I'll save my rant against Sprint for another time, but my new plan has 4 phones (all FREE), instead of 2 and is $50 less per month for camera phones and MANY more perks than Sprint, who was always charging me bogus charges and was sucky the entire two years I had them.)

Anyway...

My youngest son has already discovered a million and one features on the phones that I didn't realize they had when I bought them.

Last night, he demonstrated how to take a picture and save it as wallpaper on the phone. (I can think of sooo many uses for this.)

This morning, after we had breakfast (it was just him and me...other two stayed home today...so we ate at Denny's), he recorded the Final Fantasy Advent Children version of One Winged Angel on my phone and saved it as a ringtone for me.

We'll have to re-record it when we get home cause it picked up road noise, but I'm just enamored of the fact that I can create my own ringtones now...and even if the One Winged Angel ringtone has road noise, it's still One Winged Angel and I think that's awesome.

Yeah, when I had the chance, I dumped Sprint for Cingular. Family went, best friend out of town was there already... now my boyfriend. It's been one of the best things I've could've done, running screaming from Sprint.

I went with Cingular, too, and though I just started with them, I have to say their Customer Service rocks.

Sprint had out-sourced to India and they were never any help at all!

It's come in real handy now that I'm dating someone ALSO with Cingular, or my phone bills would be astronomical.

What company did you opt for? I have a work cell from Cingular, but it was originally AT&T. Ever since Cingular took over service, it states that half my house is ROAM and half is not, but the half that is not has not can't pick up enough signal to call out. Even funnier, going outside and standing on that side of the house puts me back on ROAM. I have to drive to the freeway to get a decent signal nowadays, but they *swear* I'm on a nationwide plan and should have service where I live.

My sister works for an Alltel affiliate as a regional manager, so she always has the coolest phones. She was showing me how her camera phone pops up a picture she's taken as "caller ID". Now that is a feature I could enjoy.

I chose Cingular because I have AT&T internet service and have only had trouble once (since SBC bought them) in like...9 or 10 years, I think I've had them

I haven't had problems yet, but have just had service two days. They could NEVER be as bad as Sprint was. NEVER.

That's strange the problems you're having. Have they given you any reasons for it?

Oh, that caller ID feature is cool!

your trouble with AT&T came after SBC bought them...

you do know that cingular is owned 60% by SBC (and 40% by bellsouth), right? so if you don't like SBC...

i switched from at&t wireless to sprint when they announced that cingular was buying them. so far i haven't had any problems to even call customer service except for a dead-too-soon battery which was under warranty. they arranged for a prompt replacement at a local store.

They swear up and down that I'm imagining the ROAM on my phone. If it was a personal phone, I'd be taking pictures while standing in my dining room to prove it says ROAM. My bosses have problems with their phones (Sony pda/email/etc phones) since the merger... mostly dropped calls or odd calls. My "favorite" odd behavior on mine is the "no number" calls. The phone rings, you answer, no one there, and you can't call them back.

I miss AT&T's service. I think 90% of the problem is that they didn't merge the networks properly. You ought to see the hoops the boss jumps through just to get the bills paid (and applied to the right accounts) since the merger.

My bro-in-law still has a Cingular phone (until his contract expires and he can get Alltel from my sister), which behaves a lot better. Most folks who had Cingular (and not AT&T first) seem to like it. I know my mom-in-law has been with them for many years.

I like Alltel, here in Arkansas anyway. Their phones have signal even in the craziest of remote places.

A friend of mine who had Nextel paid $800 for her family-plan phone bill last month because her kids knew about the text-messaging and video-messaging features on their phones and she didn't. IF you have Nextel, know what your son is doing! ;) ;)

Eeeek! How awful!!!

I've already told the kids that I did NOT pay for the text messaging and internet features and that if they use them and run up extra charges, they lose their phone!!!
