We have the most awesome Santa Ana Winds you have ever seen.

I don't think I've seen them blow this hard in over 10 years!!!

What does that mean?

It means that it was 59 degrees when I left home at 6:00 this morning...

As opposed to 37 degrees at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning.

Big difference, huh?

We've got them too. I opened the front door this morning and got hit with hot air in the face.

Uhoh. As a San Franciscan, the southland winds scare the crap out of; they're firmly associated with earthquakes.

I wondered why it was so much warmer this morning, although this close to the ocean we don't get temperatures much lower than 40...

I remember the Santa Ana's down at my mom's house in Thousand Oaks. It would blow so much dust and pollen from the central/imperial valley over that in addition to being hot as all get out, I would get really sick from allergies. And my skin (which is dry up here in 60% humidity) was inconsolable in the 10% or less humidity down there.

But after the rain, it probably feels good to have a few warm days to dry out.

I didn't know that!

I didn't know there was a correlation between the two. Maybe I should make sure my mugs are in a safe place. Rock & roll!

Interesting. We didn't get any wind down here at all.

Wasn't it crazy? They just came out of nowhere.

It's fairly breezy here today, but I can't tell if it's going to get windy again or not.

They often are...especially this time of year.

However, usually they have to get hotter before earthquakes hit. This time, fortunately, we only got up to the mid-70's.

I doubt they've proven it scientifically, but it sure seems to happen that way.

It normally has to be hotter, though, like in the high 80's or 90's, I think, before something like that happens.

You're so lucky. For a while, it was down in the mid to upper 30's out here. Brrrr.

Of course, mid day, for the past few days, we've been in the 70's so it's LOVELY.

I have had allergy troubles ALL week since the winds blew, and my fingers are cracked from dry skin, so I can sympathize with that.

Not even lotion is helping right now. I'm having to go for the neospirin and bandaids on a couple of my fingers.

We've had 40's at night since the winds started (and pretty much have left now), so not as cold. It's been LOVELY during the day. Mid 70's. I'm quite happy with that.

The tree outside my office window here has tiny little leaves. They've been growing for a couple of weeks now, and it just lost all the rest of its old leaves when the wind blew! It likes the warm weather lots.

I don't like socks. Only wear them when it's really cold...like THIS winter.

Probably cause you're so close to the beach?

We're closer to the desert, so we get them BAD sometimes.

This year seems worse, though, than we've had in a long time.
