From the POV of the characters you're writing?

I used to do it lots. Usually, it's from the character I've been writing the longest and who appears in many of my novels, Lilliana.

In the current novel I'm writing, Lilliana is just a child.

However, last night I had a most wonderful dream from her POV and it has stayed with me even since I woke. Very sensory, very detailed, very emotional.

It involved her and three other characters that I write about a lot and actually contained a couple of damn good ideas for stories!

Dig it!

Last night was a very good night for dreams, which means that brain is pretty much on the happy side this morning, even if the rest of me is cold and wants to go back to sleep. :)

that's really innerestin' ~ !

i've only once ever dreamed about a character (who i saw through a window at a 31 flavors ice cream parlor in the middle of a smelting field surrounded by barbed wire) ~ and it was a very abstract, disconnected dream. i've never dreamed of being a character or actually speaking to one.

i once dreamed a brilliant episode of the X-files start to finish. when i woke up, i wanted to write it down and write a spec script, but it eluded me when i picked up a pen and was lost forever.

good luck incorporating your dream!

: D

This is very cool! Sounds like a PMS dream (every woman I talk to has much more vivid, emotional, and memorable dreams approaching that time of the month than at any other time) Hope you can use those ideas!

Odd, all the writing I've done and I don't think I've ever dreamed from a character's POV. I've dreamed and been other people in my dreams plenty of times, but not my own story characters. Usually its actors or the movie characters they play.

I know that when I was writing the FN I dreamt once about Jack, but short stories usually don't allow that intense involvement that develops between the novelist and her characters. And right now I'm writing short stories.

Hey, I have a character named Lilliana, too! She just plays a supporting role, though.

And cool dreams!

I've never had that happen, but man... sounds kind of cool. Talk about getting immersed in the story...

I dream about my characters, but never from their POV. I'm always watching them or talking to them, which is very cool, and I never want to wake up.

Plot dreams are so great! I get them sometimes, although less so recently probably because I'm not writing as much as I should be.

That's really interesting. I can't say that I've ever had a dream from the POV of a character I'm currently working with. The closest I've come is to dreaming through somebody's eyes and have that turn into something I write.
