Y'know? I wrote a chapter that I really felt proud of and swelled with pride each time I read it -- great characterization, dialog, detail -- it was perfect. My editor friend scrapped 7 pages of 9 telling me it wasn't relevent and didn't progress the story. I fought with her for two years about it ... she finally won. But, it was still a great write! And I'm hanging on to it for use elsewhere. [g]
