My brain wants to write this morning, but, of course, I don't have the day off.

The problem is that it's trying to feed me words faster than I can type or write them down.

When it does this, I never lack for something to write, but sometimes, I get frustrated when I just can't get enough time to follow its lead.

I want it to hold onto the words. I just want it to slow down so I can keep up.

At this point, it's several scenes ahead of where I am right now.

Since I'm a dialog whore, this usually means for me that I have characters having long conversations in the back of my head. Fortunately they're usually willing to repeat themselves.

Yep, I have that too....

That's why I handwrite stuff. goes faster for me.

I prefer having too much to write.

good luck,
Chris

have you thought about using a dictation machine? either a little tape recorder or digital.

I know how frustrating that is, but I have to say that I wish I had that problem. Want to trade?

Boy, do I know how that feels, but the brain just never slows down when you ask it to. How rude. I empathize!!

That's what I used to do, back Before Computers. Things would go through my head over and over while working outdoors; then later I'd find a quiet time and place and a notebook, and the same tape would play over and over while I wrote down a word here and there. Just like taking dictation from a real tape recorder, really. Pretty stressful, as the sound was very low, I had to go over and over it, straining my ears.

Just write...don't worry about how it sounds. You can always go back and tweak it later.

Sometimes it comes out pretty much like they've been rehearsing in my head, sometimes it comes out a little differently when written.

Hang in there, Miss J. The words will be there when you're ready.
