We have the most amazing weather today. All windy and blustery and POURING down rain. Not your typical SoCal New Year's type weather. (Neither was yesterday, but this is much more intense.)

It's very dark outside and the trees have been thrashing around all day. The rain ebbs and flows, but sometimes, it sounds like someone has turned the shower on full blast and left it.

I opened my bedroom window just so I could enjoy the sound and smell of the rain. It's awesome.

I've had a beautiful, lovely, wonderful lazy rainy day today.

This morning, at breakfast, I planned out what I want to write, edit, and submit for the year, in what order. Maybe I'll type that in later.

This afternoon, I watched a re-broadcast of the Tournament of Roses and ate hot dogs with my daughter. (My oldest son is in the living room teaching my youngest how to write a speech for the Academic Decathlon. Since he--my oldest--is the school's assistant coach, it's his responsibility.)

And, I've been writing. I only lack maybe 30 words of having my target word count for the day, which is nice, but, since I'm enjoying my last day off before going back to work, I've allowed myself to work on several different projects instead of focusing on Xanali.

However, what's cool is that the sections I worked on in what I wrote actually refers back to sections I'm getting ready to write in Xanali, so this is probably a good warm-up and I'm not going to complain.

Also, one of the novels is one I have hopes of completing this year so...I'll never complain about words. It's always nice to have them.

I think I'm going to go crash with one of the cats for a few, and just listen to the rain. I sure do love it.

We're going to be having a...norstrom storm or something? I dunno, it's some big snow storm. Yay.

Dry and sunny here. 75 degrees. Burn bans. No rain for a long time. Maybe we'll get some of yours next.

Ahhh yes, the rain was fantastic. Did you hear that parts of OC and Riverside Counties were under a tornado watch?

I just wish it had let loose with some thunder and lightning...

No, I didn't hear, but someone on my FL commented that they hoped they weren't hit by a tornado, and they live in SoCal, so that explains it.

We had a bit of thunder out here. Not much. I wasn't near the window, so I didn't get to see the lightning. Bummer. :(

Is it still raining down there? The bottom just dropped out again here. But, alas, it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow, isn't it?

Did you have a good New Years?

Nope... the rain stoped her a few hours ago. :-( There's some scattered clouds, but it looks like the storm has passed. Waaaaa!!!

I did have a good New Year's thanks. I spent it with Soooze and her son Jackson up in Santa Barbara. It rained constantly for 2 days up there. It was wonderful. Though it made the trip home a bit of an adventure. :-)

Cool. How much snow are you supposed to get?

We don't get snow.

I heard about the fires. That's so tragic. Living in a huge brushfire area, I understand how awful it can be.

You're not in any danger, are you? I wish I could send some of our lovely rain your direction.

I had a nice one, yes. I stayed in, away from the weirdos and drunks and wrote.

It would be nice to have an up year, thanks. :)

Umm...I heard 3-5 or 8-10 or something like that. Plus it snowed Saturday, so it'll be on top of that. Good chance of a power outage.

Yes... staying safely away from the weirdos and drunks is a good thing. Glad you had a safe and mellow New Year's Eve. :-)

I'm hoping some of that rain makes it's way to Arizona--we could really use the extra, this year.

Know what you mean about the gray days being lovely, when they're rare. :-)

There haven't been any fires near my house. There was a big one near where my sister lives about 30 miles away. I don't think hers was one of the neighborhoods evacuated, but I'm not sure.

I'd love a little rain. Isn't it funny, one place will have a drought, another will be flooding.
