Started a New Book
Nov. 13th, 2004 11:52 pmHmm, can't remember whether or not I posted about it before, but a few days/a week ago, I finished a really great book by Holly Lisle entitled "Midnight Rain".
After that, I tried to get into a couple of other books, but they just didn't do it for me.
The other day, I picked up "The Summer Country" by Hames A. Hetley, and I'm going to give it a try. I've just started it, so I'm still giving it a chance.
I've discovered that I seem to be in the mood for contemporary works right now...contemporary fantasy, some horror, suspense with a supernatural twist. But, I like the contemporary as opposed to the higher type fantasy. That could change, of course, but I'm enjoying this for now.
One book I tried to read was so awful I can't even remember the name. I was disappointed cause it was the first in a series, and I'd love to find a really good series to read, to keep me involved in a particular universe for a while.
It was so awful that not only did I dislike the author's voice and writing style, I seriously disliked his main character, too. I couldn't get into it and am tempted to actually toss it in the trash it was so awful.
I hope other people liked it. I guess that would explain how it got published. We all have different tastes, after all.
I just hope that, if I ever get lucky enough to get published, nobody reacts to any of my novels that way!!!
Definitely something to think about.
