Too tired to live. Three OT days in a row. Found out today that I have to work on Thanksgiving and the day after. Not supposed to have to do that in a damned office job. I've never had to work on Thanksgiving before. This sucks!

I got home so late tonight that there hasn't been much time to write, but I couldn't die--uh, sleep--without writing a little.

Want me to start picking up the Sunday paper and scanning in the help wanted section? Or are you good with the online listings?

Do you get the Vegas paper? Or a local paper?

I often forget to check the Vegas paper online, so if you see anything good, let me know.

Hate my job, hate my job, hate my job...

Don't want to work Thanksgiving.

Desperately need a day off.

Hon, I don't know how you can write only 300ish words. If I take the time to open the pig of a program that is Word, you can believe I'm going to churn out at least a few thousand. :)

Although very, very occasionally I think up a particular phrase that I want someone to say and I type that in a notepad file on my desktop creatively called "Untitled". *grin*

Well, while I usually write more than that at a time, after I've worked over 10 hours and had a hugely STRESSFUL day, been gone from home over 12 hours, still taken care of three kids, ignored my health and sleep....

I have very few active brain cells, I'm usually half-sick, and yesterday, I just felt good to have written anything at all. It would have been very easy just to go to sleep, but writing is important to me and I want to write something EVERY day, even if it's not a lot. It's still something, and with everything crowding my life, that's really important to me.

Eh, I don't hold myself to writing every day. I figure the days where I go on nine-hour benders without food or even stopping to pee make up for the days when I do nothing.

Besides, every time I force myself to write, I end up with crap that I have to toss out. I know some authors succeed holding themselves to a rigid schedule but I'm far too chaotic for that.

Okay, there we go...I just banged out a point-form conversation I thought up earlier (actually overheard in my head but there's no need to let on too much about my insanity), and I figured it'd be maybe 500-600 words, but it's 1131.

So if that was written out with full sentences and such, it'd probably be at least 1300 words, and that's about as short of a writing session that I can do.

And yes, I banged it out in Notepad (but briefly stuck it in Word for the count just to check).

You mean, someone out there actually uses Notepad for something other than HTML? ::boggles::

See, by the time I actually FOUND where Notepad is in the maze of Microsquish "Start" menus, Word would be open and screaming, "Good gods, woman, why did you open me if you aren't going to use me?"

LOL I use Notepad for lots of things. My first novel's first draft was written ENTIRELY in Notepad, all 180,000ish words of it. At the time I only had a Win3.1 machine, and although I had Wordperfect, I knew that program was going to die soon (I was a tech reporter at the time) and didn't want to lock up files in that format anymore. So I wrote in Notepad, then eventually took files to work to run through Word there for spellcheck and stuff. Then I saved them as .txt to take them back home for more work in Notepad. :)

But yeah, I do also use Notepad for HTML, and it's bloody useful when you want to cut-and-paste from the Web and strip all formatting off (i.e. if you're going to copy a bit of text into an email). I know there are more robust programs out there, but Notepad works so hey, I'm gonna keep using it! :)
