This was another hard one for me, I think, though maybe I didn't realize it at the time.

Developing patience has, as with confidence, helped me to develop a kind of writerly peace with myself. A peace that has allowed me to give myself free range to write and write and write and grow and explore and develop...at least, I hope I'm developing. :)

The patience says: Take all the time you need to learn. The writing isn't going to run away. It's not going anywhere. But, it can get better if you let it.

The patience says: Be spontaneous. Allow yourself the freedom to write. Don't try to crank something out fast just to submit. Don't discourage yourself that way. You'll know the piece that's right to submit when you see it. Watch for it. Wait for it. And, in the meantime, become a writer. Try it. You'll like it.

The patience says: Cut yourself some slack. You're a busy person. You work full time. You have kids. Don't stop writing. But, don't judge yourself so harshly because you're not always focused. Don't worry. Everything can be fixed later.

The patience says: Opportunities are golden. Be ready for them. Feel good about your work when you submit.

The patience says: Study. Analyze. Figure out how you write and why you write and how to improve the writing you already do.

The patience says: Be the writer you want to be. You only live once. Make the most of it. It's important to you. Make it the best it can be.

Am I always successful? As with confidence and with words...no. But, oh, it's so much better than it was even a few months ago.

The patience is evolving and I believe it's helping me grow as a writer.

You really have grown and evolved in the few years that I've known you. You really have. I'm so glad that you're finding a peace within yourself. You truly do have a gift. A powerful and amazing gift. I think your art is beautiful and I really hope to get a chance to see more of it in the near future.
