And, let me tell you, it was sooooo cool.

About 45 minutes ago, it turned pitch black outside. You think I'm kidding? I am NOT.

I've never, EVER seen it so black during the day. Never. Not in all my 49 years. EVER.

I could see street lights popping on in the distance. All over the place. And, I couldn't even see across the parking lot here at work.

However, I was on the phone and had to turn away.

The next thing I know, the huge window behind me was being assaulted. I glanced over my shoulder and it was HAILING! Small hail, but TONS of it...all over the place.

That lasted throughout my phone call, along with more torrential rain.

And, when I was done, I turned around, and the darkness was gone. It looked like daytime again.

It's still raining hard and there's a river down the middle of the parking lot.

But, it looks like the end of the world is over.

And, it was sooooo cool.

oh cripes. I bet it is on its way down here (san diego). I will watch for golf balls from the sky. I might have to wear my metal salad bowl on my head if I go out.

A bit unusual for your area, I believe.

We had something like that here in NYC back in the '70s, looked like night at 1:00 pm. Very windy, trees were bent in half. I don't recall if it rained or hailed. It was in the summer, I think. Turned out part of Long Island, the town north from my parents, got a tornado from that storm front that took out a row of stores. That's the only tornado that I know actually touched down anywhere in the NYC area. That wasn't cool at all. You're lucky you just got hail.

Yeah......

A dark side of me LOVES it when it gets like that...we have days like that throughout the year on the NC coast...a low pressure swoops in ...a nor'easter or hurricane or something...and it always makes me think of end of all days or something...

What a coincidence...the story draft I just finished temporarily destroyed the world too!
