I've decided that my brain must be fed a regular dose of NOTHING in order to keep it healthy and in optimum working order. NOTHING makes it very happy and apparently, makes me very happy as well.

I had yesterday quite planned out. Even though I had to take my youngest son and my daughter some places, I'd planned to get tons of writing done, among other things. I had my day all planned.

Had to have my youngest at school before 7:30 to march in the Azusa Golden Days Parade. Then, I went to breakfast, where I worked on some more detailed plotting for my NaNoWriMo project while I waited for breakfast. Also started a scene for Dawn of Destiny, so I was pleased.

After that, I continued to be productive, as I went to Walmart for necessities we'd run out of while we were almost money-less. Then, to Sam's Club and to Stater Brothers for food. I spent a small fortune, but now we have stuff (kitty litter, soap, toiletries, etc) and food. Hooray for food! (And kitty litter cause baby Malik whizzes on the bed when the litter is not good in the litter box!)

Came home to clean out the fridge and freezer before we put up everything I bought.

And, that is where being productive went south for the rest of the day. :)

I had to go back to pick up youngest son from the parade and take him to a friend's house for the rest of the day. Picked up a friend of daughter's. They wanted to go to Frank & Sons Collectibles to look for anime DVD's and soundtracks and such.

So...number one son and I went out to lunch. This was something I've really missed as I was semi-jobless and in climbing back up to not being so broke any more. There's a local restaurant that has cream of chicken and wild rice soup on Saturdays that is TO DIE FOR.

It was so good. But, of course, daughter called in the middle of lunch to say she and her boy friend (not boyfriend) were done shopping and could she borrow $20 for a 4-CD FF7 soundtrack set.

Back to get them. Took them to Orbit to look. Her friend wanted to see the store. It specializes in anime (mostly Japanese imports, some with subtitles, some in English) DVD's, manga, and all sorts of collectibles. WONDERFUL place. They've added the biggest selection of Pocky I've seen in this area, too. Exquisite selection. Many collectible odds and ends, too. Great place to browse.

I even splurged and bought myself two manga that were 10% off. I haven't really splurged in a long time, so it was neat, even though it was just something inexpensive. Because I like to draw and try to design costumes and armor that I use in my novels, I usually purchase as much for the artwork in a manga as I do the story.

Took daughter's friend home and he asked if she could hang out until I picked youngest son up at 6:45. Sure, no problem.

That left number one son and I free again.

So....we went to the Cal Poly Farm Store. I'd driven by there in the morning and seen pumpkins EVERYWHERE in their front field...which is many, MANY acres. The farm store sits back on a hill. Behind it, up on the bigger hill, the university has a research facility where they work to produce things like pest-free crops.

I've been DYING to go to the farm store. I love fresh produce and haven't really had a great place to buy it. Everything they have is organic and they even had organic beef, pork, and lamb from their agricultural program. Oh, and organic honey. This is in addition to all the produce and to actual herbs and plants they had for sell.

And, everything goes to profit the university's agriculture program.

All of the organic produce was no more expensive than what I pay at the grocery store. Meat was a little more expensive. All I bought as far as meat goes were sausage links, and can't wait to try them. But, I did buy produce, including a really nice bag of oranges they grew.

They had pumpkins and gourds they'd grown there that were very cheap. Oh, and Indian corn. A huge, colorful variety. I'll go back for a pumpkin in a week or two. Also, a couple of small pie pumpkins, cause I want to try to make a pie with Splenda, so I can eat it. :)

I bought some long-handle gourds, which tickled me cause I hadn't seen them since I moved out here from Nashville, many years ago. And, some beautiful Indian corn. I love to decorate for Fall.

Just neat stuff. Nothing huge. It was just nice to relax and be in a cool place that looked like a real old-fashioned store and admire the flowers and the rural atmosphere when it was really on a university campus.

Picked up out-of-pocket kids. Youngest son brought home an Advent Children soundtrack given to him by his friend. And, Mom was very, very happy. Mom is still listening to it this morning. One-Winged Angel with AWESOME guitar and drums, along with the orchestra. Oooooh. Gives me shivers.

Then, we did something we hadn't done in a LONG time, cause we couldn't afford it. We went out to dinner, all four of us, as a family. We didn't get anything expensive, but we had a great and wonderful time.

And, I relaxed for an entire day. (I also put 125 miles on my car!!!)

I considered coming home and staying up writing, but ended up being smart and sleeping. Apparently, sleeping was a very good thing...as was letting brain recharge yesterday.

Sometimes, it's the little things, in life, I think, that bring the most joy and the most relaxation.
