I've lived in this area over 5 years and with all our woods and open areas, we have NEVER had fires before.

And, we have wildlife!!! I'm worried about the wildlife.

I've seen squirrels and chipmunks and skunks and rabbits and raccoons and oposums and coyotes and of course lizards and snakes and birds (including beautiful hawks) and such.

I want the animals to be okay.

I'm keeping a good (wet and cool) thought for you and all the animals.

Thank you! It helped. Everything seems to be getting back to normal now, and the fire was contained without widespread damage!

I hope they're ok too!

I never heard anything about final stats on size or damage of the fire, but since it was contained so quickly, I like to hope all the animals had a chance to flee into surrounding areas.

That's bad. I understand completely about hoping the animals are okay.

*hugs*

I'm assuming everyone (animal-wise) was okay since they hopefully had time to flee and the surrounding areas weren't destroyed.

The firefighters got the fire out amazingly fast. I was flabbergasted.

And, because the surrounding areas were kept safe, I'm hoping animals managed to scatter there.

Fortunately, our immediate area was not threatened since they got it put out. Whew!

I've been through several wildfires

It's very nasty. Do yourself a favor and gather the important stuff in case you have to evacuate. They often only give you about 5 minutes notice.

That sounds frightening.

Fortunately, since the fire was caught early (I actually think it might have been caused by a barbecing mishap in a housing tract near the wooded area), they actually got it put out before it caused massive damage or got to the point they had to evacuate.

Believe me, that was a HUGE relief.

I'm just thankful that the fires this season aren't nearly as bad as they were a couple of years ago. Remember those? Those were brutal.

Glad that they got them out though.

OMG, I know the ones you were talking about. Two years ago, wasn't it?

We had them really bad here in the San Gabriel Valley!

They spread for so many miles and destroyed property and homes and animals. It was tragic.

I had a picture from space of those fires as my computer wallpaper for a while and it was just amazing... You could see them from space!!!
