To all those who celebrate!

To those who don't, HAPPY HOLIDAYS for your holiday of choice!

We celebrate Christmas, but not as a religious holiday, just as a time of peace and happiness and goodwill to all. And, the giving of gifts.

Today isn't a big Christmas as far as gifts go because there have been far too many expenses over the past few months, but kids know I'll make good on it in January, when things aren't so tight, and the big thing for us is just being home, relaxing, and spending time together.

I'm getting ready to make quiche for breakfast and then there will be yummy ham with trimmings for Christmas dinner.

The highlight for me will be more time to write and/or edit...though I'm leaning toward spending at least part of my time writing today. Maybe I'll finish the Christmas story I've been working on the past few years, or maybe I'll work on one of the new short story ideas.

We'll see.

But, for now, I want to wish peace and happiness to everyone on my friends list. May all your days be merry and bright!

In fact, Godzilla makes every day better. If you're a Godzilla fan, that is.

Thank you, Sci Fi Channel, for another good movie day.

And, tomorrow, Storm of the Century is coming on. I like that, too. Hey, [livejournal.com profile] java_fiend, that's the movie I was telling you about!

Anyway, I missed the first hour of Godzilla cause yougest son and I were making deep dish quiche lauraine. It should be ready soon. It smells good already.

Plus, I played Santa and passed out presents to kids. They liked the gifts I got them. :)

Right now, I've got OWW open and am perusing submissions.

I also have my Christmas story, Angels of the Season open. Figure I'll throw a few words at it today.

And I have screenplay, I Sold My Soul to Santa open for editing.

So many choices. And, time to actually work on them.

I love holidays!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Again.

And, yes, I'll probably do this all day.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

Youngest son and I started with the recipe on the Philadelphia cream cheese package and went low fat and sugar free on it.

We had so much fun making it.

I don't think I've ever made cheesecake from scratch before. It would have been a fast procedure if we hadn't been having so much fun with it.

We tasted the batter and, OMG, it's so GOOD.

I'd bought a graham cracker pie crust for it since it had less sugar than the actual crumbs you can use to make your own and I could pick it off if I didn't want it.

To our surprise, we had a LOT of the batter left over after we filled it.

So we pulled out one of the deep dish pie crusts I had in the freezer and FILLED it up too.

Wow, we have cheesecake to spare!

I will definitely do this often since it's so easy.

It's cooking now, then has to go into the fridge for 4 hours and will be ready right about when we're ready for it, I'm guessing.

What kinds of yummy things have you folks cooked for Christmas?
