We had a potluck lunch today at work for the current Cost Accounting Manager. Tomorrow is his 62nd birthday and Monday is his last day before retirement.

I have never participated in a potluck with so much food. It was just for the 12-14 people in both accounting departments (cost and general), but there was so much food that we fed maintenance, sales, and purchasing, too! (The latter are big departments.)

There was STILL food left over when it was cleaned up at second break.

Very impressive.

Everyone continues to be lovely at work. Really nice people. I like them lots.

The hours are still giving me some trouble. I've had OT three days this week and have to work tomorrow, and the next few weeks are going to be worse because of inventory.

I know that the biggest problem is that I've been sick since last week. Hopefully, when I feel better, it won't be so bad.

I need to get some writing work done this weekend, too.

I had a new story almost plotted for my class and then got some flashes of a new plot with some kick-ass scenes today at work.

So, I have to see if I can crunch it into some coherent form tomorrow and send it to the instructor.

Also would like to get in some novel writing. I've done a very little this week, but haven't posted word counts cause I've been sooooo tired.

It's a little cooler tonight. By the time oldest son and I got home from bank and errands around 7:30, it was down to 84 degrees (even though humidity was still AWFUL). It was almost that temp when I left for work this morning, so I hope it'll actually cool down into the 60's tonight.

Wouldn't that be nice?
