Ago, today.

I escaped with my children.

Took back control of my own life.

And decided to live it the way I saw fit.

Away from neglect and abuse (verbal, physical, sexual).

Away from anger and violence.

Away from unkind words and living on welfare.

To give my children the kinds of lives they deserve.

Even though sometimes, things are hard.

It's all been worth it in the long run.

And continues to be worth even more as every year passes.

When you have angst in your life, or there's chaos going on around you (involving yourself and/or others) that you can't seem to escape, how does it affect your writing and your ability to write?

Do you thrive on it?

Or does it run you straight towards a hole in the ground?

Well, today started off like yesterday ended...not so good.

People really get me down sometimes. I don't understand meanness or hatred or why some people have to be right ALL the time...at the expense of others. And discount the opinions of others and criticize them for having opinions that differ from their own.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not naive. Of course I know that's the way the majority of the world is. But, it still gets me down when I have to deal with it face to face for any length of time. And, maybe it makes it worse that these people believe it's all okay. And that they're in the right.

So, while I was frustrated, I started a short story in my series universe. Sadly, I got interrupted and lost my forward momentum. Otherwise, I think I'd have finished it today.

Tonight, my most wonderful oldest son took us all out to dinner to celebrate our TEN YEARS (hooray!) of freedom.

We went to Joe's Crab Shack and not only had the most excellent of dinners, but a rousing good time as well. I can't remember the last time I laughed soooo much. I think the seafood was spiked. :)

I had lots of leftovers and will eat them tomorrow.

I'm tired, though. Ready for bed. And, glad tomorrow is Thursday. Hooray!
