I Think We've Come to a Truce...
Feb. 14th, 2006 01:03 pmMy newest novel and I.
At least for today.
So, I can't complain too much.
I've come to the decision that all writing is a learning experience, whether it ultimately produces a marketable commodity or not.
Yes, the goal is to sell and be published. However, if this one never sees the light of day, I have many others that might.
So, I will write and enjoy and learn. And, see what comes out of this experience.
A finished novel, yes.
Maybe I'll be surprised and it'll be better than I expect.
If not, there's always plenty of room on my hard drive.

What a Sweetie...
Feb. 14th, 2006 01:55 pmThere's this adorable hummingbird--a really little guy that keeps popping by my window today. There are bushes and flowers outside and a tree that's been in bloom.
Sometimes, he stops at the window and looks in. I wonder what he sees when he does. He just hovers there, mesmerized.
I figure he probably sees himself and thinks there's another hummingbird.
He's such a beautiful green.
Sometimes, he lands on tiny tree branches. But, he never stays still for long.
But, he makes me smile whenever I see him.
He always brightens up my day.

What A Nice Surprise
Feb. 14th, 2006 07:04 pmI like Valentine's Day, but Valentine's Day means different things to me, I think, than it does to other people.
It used to be a nightmare, when I was married, but that's not really something I want to get into here.
For me, now, Valentine's Day is, of course, a day of love, but it's also a day of freedom, because I don't have to go through the kinds of things I did when I was married. It was one of the worse days every year of marriage, so now, it's one of the best days of being free.
Anyway, when I picked up my youngest son from play practice, and my daughter from volunteering there at the high school, she handed me half a dozen beautiful, white roses and told me they were from one of the teachers. He'd asked her to give them to me...just because he was nice.
And, I thought that was nice. To be thought of. Just because he was nice.

Early Night Time Post
Feb. 14th, 2006 07:13 pmGot to go out in about 5 minutes to pick up my oldest son and I'm going to try to crash when I get home because my back is still very painful today. And, I'm tired. :)
I probably could write a little more, but I'm enamored of coming up (accidentally) on an even total for the entire file total, so I'm stopping for the night.
