Brrrr...

It wouldn't have taken much to convince me to stay in bed this morning where it was warm.

It's 37 degrees here this morning, which may not sound bad to some of you, but keep in mind we're talking southern California here! 37 is COLD for us. :)

The problem, you see, is that my heater has pilot light problems and the gas company hasn't come back out to fix it. So, while I know it's not 37 inside here, it's still COLD, and I wanted to stay in bed.

I have to take boys to school, though, for Academic Decathlon meetings, so I HAD to get up. The competition starts next weekend, so the team is working on speeches today.

Brrrr...I'm going to go find a heavy sweater to pull on, just so I can read part of my FL before I go.

From the POV of the characters you're writing?

I used to do it lots. Usually, it's from the character I've been writing the longest and who appears in many of my novels, Lilliana.

In the current novel I'm writing, Lilliana is just a child.

However, last night I had a most wonderful dream from her POV and it has stayed with me even since I woke. Very sensory, very detailed, very emotional.

It involved her and three other characters that I write about a lot and actually contained a couple of damn good ideas for stories!

Dig it!

Last night was a very good night for dreams, which means that brain is pretty much on the happy side this morning, even if the rest of me is cold and wants to go back to sleep. :)

10 Signs a Piece of Fiction Was Written By Me

1. It’s some form of speculative fiction, probably a novel.
2. If it’s a novel, it’s probably taken from one of my series, even though it can probably stand alone.
3. There’s usually a strong female character involved as one of the predominant characters.
4. There’s usually magic or super powers involved.
5. It’s character driven.
6. The fate of the world is often at stake.
7. There is often a self-sacrificing character involved.
8. Relationships between characters (not necessarily romantic, but sometimes) are very important.
9. There’s always one more problem/obstacle for the protagonist to overcome.
10. Characters evolve and change and grow throughout the piece.

I haven't qizzed much lately, so today must be my day for them. Second one today. I'm kinda picky, though, so I only choose certain ones. I liked this one.

All I really HAD to do today was take my sons to school at 8:00 and pick them up at noon. I accomplished that and went out for breakfast, as is my Saturday morning habit.

Ordered pizza when I got home. It was great.

SciFi Channel has disaster movies on. I love disaster movies. Tonight, they have a new original disaster movie on. I hope it's not sucky as many of their recent movies have been.

I've written some today. Not much. I'm a slacker. But, hey, it's only 2:00 PM. Lots of time to catch up. (Famous last words, but I do this every Saturday.)

So, I'm going to be a lazy bum and go curl up in bed with a cat and a book and disaster movies.

I'm fighting a new idea that popped into my head yesterday and I have to wrestle it into submission so I can focus more directly on my novel this evening. I think I'll write it out (though I don't think I'll forget it) and maybe I'll use it for [livejournal.com profile] olympic_writers in February. I might actually be able to write a short story out of it, if I don't let it develop any further. That would be cool.

Actually, I have two short stories I'd like to write for that writing challenge in February. One is humorous, though, and I wonder if those are hard to place if I ever chose to submit it. I think the only way to get the idea out of my head, though, is to write it, whether I use it or not.

Too many ideas. Not enough lifetimes.

Cause it's still pretty light outside. The sky is a pale blue and the streaks of clouds are this really pretty pale goldish-orange.

I'm pretty sure that this time, back in December, it was dark already. Maybe had been dark for at least half an hour already.

I love this time of day. It's generally very pretty and serene and I bet, if I went outside in another 15 minutes, we'd have a really AWESOME hot pink or orange sunset. They've been amazing lately.

I guess I have to turn the light on now. What a pity.

But, it's time to crank out some words. I'm getting close now, and I think I have the "Aw, man, I'm going to miss this novel when I finish" procrastination thing going on.

Time to finish. Another novel awaits.

Check out [livejournal.com profile] olympic_writers.

Sounds like fun.

I'm going to give it a go.

But, tomorrow's another day.

And, after a late start and being gone for a while tonight, at least I got my words done. I'm not happy with them all, but a lot of that could be just cause I wasn't happy.

Tomorrow's another day.
