Okay, so maybe it's not so bad without rain. I guess the sunshine is okay today. It's quite beautiful outside.

And, I'm writing early, which is good. And, I like what I'm writing, which is even better. I don't claim that it's perfect, but I'm enjoying it and will fix problems later.

And, after watching Sci Fi's version of War of the Worlds last night, I just had to buy the Spielberg version on Pay Per View this morning. So, my kids and I are settled down to watch it. My daughter and many folks on my FL have recommended it highly, so I'm looking forward to watching.

After this, we may even splurge for Fantastic Four on PPV, which I thought was great fun.

Back to writing. I'm a writer on a mission today. And, that mission is...finish this novel or come as close as I can to finishing it!

I wrote this morning and then I got really lazy and watched pay per view movies with the kids. It was really nice, though. I needed to relax.

Kitty Malik and I took a one hour nap and then I got up and fixed meatloaf and homemade cheddar mashed potatoes.

Why the hell was I productive this evening? I wanted to be lazy...er, finish my novel today.

I won't finish tonight, but that's okay, cause I made some good progress.

Mostly, what threw me off track was that the internal editor and I had a really nice talk in the bath tonight. For once, she was NOT trying to tell me what I was doing wrong or that what I was writing was crap. She WAS, however, in rewrite mode, and I explained to her that I have to finish and let the novel sit for a while before we can edit.

However, got some GREAT ideas for reshaping the beginning and maybe restructuring the way some of the plot threads fit together for the revised ending, since this is now a novel in and of itself and does not belong as a part of Xanali.

So, I'm pleased with those insights.

I will finish the section of scenes I'm working on tonight, I think, and then I just have a small section left to finish. If work isn't bad, maybe tomorrow. If it's hard, then I'll spread it out over a couple of days.

There's no rush and I'm just going to go straight into Xanali when I'm done, so, it's all part of the same story anyway, and there's not a huge rush.

Once I finish Out of the Darkness, Xanali, and Guardian Force, which are all connected with one another...but could probably stand alone if I rewrite correctly..then, I'm going to move into Wildfire.

Brain already has some ideas for it. Wildfire is finished. It was adapted from a screenplay I wrote, though, and is WAY short. Only around 200 pages. So, I do need to weave in a couple of new plot threads that I have for it and change the love interest part of the story.

I hope to add around 100-150 pages to it. It's not going to be as long as my other novels, so it might not take as long. I hope to edit/revise for the first pass while I'm adding.

I think it'll probably be the first novel that I query. Things can change, of course, but I think it'll be first.

Cool. It would be nice to start attempts at marketing this year.

I got quite a bit accomplished on my novel today. Didn't finish, but that's okay. I'm pleased with the progress and will finish soon.

Going to up my word count estimate to 145,000 words. Close to finished.

Out of the Darkness

3,800 words today
