The Body Stresses in Mysterious Ways
Sep. 30th, 2005 05:27 amOver the past week, I've really been working on trying to cope with the trials and tribulations of work on a mental and emotional level.
You know what the problem with that is? If you don't let the stress manifest itself openly like that, it just finds another place to go. You may not realize it at the time (which I didn't), but it's still there and it comes back to haunt you like a bad ghost.
My first indication has been extreme fatigue. And, I do mean extreme. I've been less productive than usual when I get home. Some nights, it's difficult just to drag myself in. And, when I get that tired, I have no appetite.
Second indication was when my ankles and feet starting swelling a couple of days ago. That's an old stress indicator for me. One that hasn't visited me regularly in quite some time. I take half a hydrochlorothyazide per day for it, as a matter of fact.
But, well...
Yesterday was the worst. Last night, I was up four or five times running to the bathroom. But, that's good. At least it means the swelling is gone by morning. And, it is. Everything looks good and in working order. :)
The worst part of it, and how I know it was the worst day, was the LEG CRAMP I got around 3:30 this morning. They always hurt like hell, but normally, I can get rid of them within 5-10 minutes. This one lasted an hour. Ouch. Agony.
Today's Friday, though, so I'm hoping stress level will be less. Of course, it's the last day of the month, so I have all kinds of reports and information to turn in and I have to work late to finish it up because I won't even get some of the information to compile until the shop personnel leave.
But, it's still Friday. Nothing changes that. :)
THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!

Date: 2005-09-30 05:11 pm (UTC)Hmm, you know, I may have spent the last several years trying to explain to you that shielding and singing, "La la la, I won't let myself be stressed" doesn't ACTUALLY make the stress go away. Could you possibly be listening, finally?
