The Line-Up
Sep. 26th, 2005 07:10 pmA couple of people have asked me about the concert I attended last night. I think I mentioned already that it was a benefit concert sponsored by LA radio station K-Earth 101, a local oldies stations. Most of the performers performed oldies, but not all.
Gary Sinise, from CSI: NY was there with his Lt. Dan Band and they played more current material. He also presented the Red Cross with $27,000+ with money that was collected by the cast and crew of CSI: NY.
Other performers included: The Safaris, Mary Wilson, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, and Three Dog Night.
Mary Wilson is looking damn good. She's 61 and looks younger than me!!! (Heh...not that that's a difficult thing.) She performed the best of the Supremes hits and one of her own.
Frankie Valli, of course, has a different band now. His Four Seasons are really yummy thirtyish singers/dancers. The only member still with him is his keyboards player/music director, Robbie Robinson. He performs with a brass/wind section, drums, full percussion, guitar, and bass. I have my eye on the bass player. He's an oh-so-yummy blond. I've seen them in Vegas before. Mmmmm....
The Safaris were awesome. Man, between the bass and the drums, you could sooooo feel the music pounding through you.
The Beach Boys still have two of the original members. Mike Love is very friendly. They have a big group performing with them. Three sets of keyboards, percussion, drums, MANY guitars, and a bass. John Stamos performed with them, switching from guitar to drums to percussion throughout the performance.
Three Dog Night only has one original member. But, since it's the lead singer, it SOUNDS like Three Dog Night. Smaller band. GREAT guitarist. Awesome. Performed all their hits.
The Beach Boys performed fifteen songs. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons probably performed that many. The others maybe performed six.
There were comedians throughout the night, between acts, so they could rearrange everything for the performers. Paul Rodriguez was first up. They said he'd just been rescued from Houston by the Red Cross. He was sporting a broken leg/foot and wearing a cast.
Other performers were mostly from HBO comedy shows.
At intermission, we got to go into the dressing rooms for a meet and greet. Quite awesome. Everyone was quite nice. I think the two nicest were Mike Love and Mary Wilson. Mary Wilson was a lovely person.
The music and the night were sooooo AWESOME, and, of course, all for a good cause. I think I can actually hear now...at least more than I could this morning.
All I can say is I WANT TO GO DO IT AGAIN!!!
I LOVE live music. There's nothing else like it.
