I just said that cause I'm exhausted and stressed and the words are keeping me somehow sane. :)

Within a few more days, I'll either be doing remarkably better or...worse.

Tomorrow is my last day of metformin and then I'm out completely, so I'm pretty worried right now about what's going to happen to my blood sugar. Have four more days of lotensin after that, so I'm not as concerned about that. Lots of hydrochlorothyazide, so not concerned about it at all. I only take half of one per day anyway.

But, the meds and health issues are more what's freaking me out than money concerns right now. So, I appreciate everyone for bearing with me as I thrashed out my insecurities (born of weariness and stress, I'm sure) this morning. Thank you soooo much for being there. :)

I talked to my pharmacist today and he's as disapproving as everyone else of my doctor who refused to refill my meds since I didn't have the insurance to go in when she snapped her fingers, and suggested I go elsewhere. He recommended a doctor. Her fees are less, but I really can't afford to go and pay for meds BOTH.

However, there's a chance I'll have active insurance early in the week. The company is working on it. I had to select a doctor when I enrolled and since I knew of no one else at the time, I picked the same medical group, BUT chose a different doctor. I'd seen her in urgent care and she seems okay.

So, my plan now is to call and make an appointment with her and see if they'll refill enough meds to last me until I see her. Or ask if I can walk-in to urgent care, have a doctor test my blood sugar and BP, and refill the two prescriptions that are running out.

The problem right now is that, after the way the other doctor talked to me and her refusal to refill the meds, I'm afraid to get my hopes up. Which, of course, causes all this crazy stress. :(

I don't have lots of words for the day, but I hit my 1,500 word goal, so I'm not going to complain at all. I'm still on track, still moving forward, and that's good. Very good.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll write more.

Cause, I'm actually going to use a thread of common sense and go to bed at a decent time and see if maybe I can get a little extra rest tonight. Then, I might not feel like crap tomorrow. Hooray for common sense.

I'm blathering. That means it's time to shut up and sleep. :)

I wanted to offer a VERY temporary solution if you can't get a doctor to refill your meds. For about $12, you should be able to buy a bottle of milk thistle and a bottle of dandelion root. Taken together, they can help control your blood sugar, though not as effectively as the Metformin, of course. I'm talking very short term, just as a stopgap measure. I used the two for a while before my doc put me on Met, and the combination was enough to actually give me a couple of episodes of low blood sugar the first few days I took it, until I started staggering the meds--milk thistle with breakfast and dinner, dandelion root with lunch. It's definitely not a permanent replacement for real diabetic meds, but it might help a bit. I have no ideas for the blood pressure meds.

Wait, just one. If all else fails, there is always the ER. It will cost you a hellacious amount, but a sympathetic doctor should be able to give you at least one month of medicine.

Or is there a free clinic/sliding scale clinic anywhere in your area? I don't know if you would technically qualify, if they go via income, but it might be worth checking out.

Hopefully, you can just find a good doctor, and your insurance will start early in the week. I still can't believe your doctor would let you go without your meds. If she was any kind of physician, she would have had you come in and worry about paying later, damn the insurance.
