Trying to Get Back On Track
Sep. 5th, 2005 08:53 pmThanks to everyone who said nice things about my word count yesterday.
I guess I should explain what I meant by being unfocused. Yes, I wrote over 5,000 words yesterday and I was very pleased that I did, cause I didn't feel really productive with everything that's been going on.
But, what I meant about being unfocused was that I couldn't concentrate on any one project. I traveled from project to project, working with whatever little bursts of inspiration came instead of buckling down and working like a writer on a mission.
Today, I'm more focused. Maybe not completely back up to par, but working on it.
I've decided that Beyond the Darkness is not ready for me to work on now. Brain had wanted to about a month ago, but then when real life threw in some more curves, things changed.
So, I'm going to the next book in my series, Dawn of Destiny. It's the next book that follows Lilli, after Ancient Secrets, and the first in a trilogy that details further events in Rosemont.
I also worked on a synopsis for the project I want to do for NaNoWriMo, entitled Xanali. However, this project looks so fully developed now that I think I might start it sooner.
Dawn of Destiny needs more work, but if I get to the point where I can focus and write about 2,000 words per day on it, I can finish it up this month.
What I'd like to do, and...heh...this is a longshot, I know. My plan was to write 100,000 words during NaNoWriMo, instead of 50,000, and finish Xanali. I can do that, if real life cooperates. (Famous last words.) I wrote 100,000 words in July.
Now, though, I have it in my head to attempt the impossible. And, it really IS impossible, so it probably won't work, but that won't keep me from trying if I can get back up to speed.
I'd like to plot the other two novels that follow Xanali, if I can get as revved up about them as I did Xanali. If I can have them this thoroughly plotted, I'd like to write Xanali in October, Countdown to Destruction in November for NaNoWriMo, and then Nexus in December. I'd have the entire trilogy done before the end of the year. What a way to end the year! I could party like there was no tomorrow. (A person has to have something to look forward to, right?)
Will it happen? I don't know. Depends on the new job. Depends on whether or not I can handle the stress and the new situation. Depends on whether I finish Dawn of Destiny this month or not.
But, OMG, I'd love to do it!
