Seems like the old owner of the company has thrown yet another monkey wrench into things and we're not quite sure yet when we're going to go back to work. Maybe not until September 6.

He claims to own one of the patents on a particular type of lining product used in something we manufacture, and won't give it up.

Supposedly, there was a meeting yesterday between him, his lawyers, two of the folks from the new owners, and the Trustee yesterday at the plant. I haven't heard what happened yet.

I just can't believe this. The man is outrageous.

I also hear that he threw a screaming fit in court and accused the people who bought the comapny of ruining his family and used the F*** word and all sorts of improper court conduct.

So, I guess the soap opera continues for at least a while longer.

I think I'll do some calling around today and see what I can find out.

As long as I'm back to work in a couple of weeks, I'll be okay, I think.

Oh NO! This guy sounds like he really does belong in a soap opera. Or wants to, at least...

*hugs*

Maybe I should start writing soap operas since I've lived in one so long? :)

Maybe you ought to get all of your writer friends together to have them come up with every possible monkey wrench scenario this guy could throw into the works, so you employees can figure out your response to each situation ahead of time. :)

Sounds like it, doesn't it? I didn't think these kinds of bizarre things happened in real life...only in bubblegum novels.

P.S.

And shouldn't that foul language put him in contempt of court?

I don't know if it works the same way in a court-held auction.

It's the saga that Just. Won't. Die.

You could turn all of these lj-posts into a serial, you know.

It seems like it's never going to end.

You know, it really would work for a serial, wouldn't it???

Sheesh. Sounds like the makings of a reality TV show. Hope it's resolved soon.

Hey, that's what I should do with all of this. Script a reality show. It's about as fake as some of them are, don't you think???

Oh, definitely. It'll probably be more entertaining, too. :)

Good gravy. The man is incredible. The judge must have the patience of a saint if the guy wasn't hauled off to jail for that behavior.

If he does really own the patent on the lining product, it will be on record. The new owners will just have to find a way to work around it.

Very annoying, but it will work out. Have faith. :)

Since it was a court-held auction, I don't know if the same court "rules" are in place? I have no idea. I'd just thought it was all over.

Sheesh. Hopefully, they'll work it all out. I think, right now, he just wants to lash out at people and hurt them. He doesn't even think he did anything wrong by not paying employees for three weeks or not paying the medical insurance. One of the Trustee's reps said that he thinks the old owner is a sociopath. Believes all the lies he tells and thinks he is the wronged party.

Yeah, it'll work out. Maybe that's why I didn't party hearty when I heard the news. Maybe I'm just waiting to be back at work and know that everything is settled ONCE AND FOR ALL!

He's just awful, isn't he?

I will definitely use this in my writing some day.

I also hear that he threw a screaming fit in court and accused the people who bought the comapny of ruining his family

Hmm, HE runs the company into bankruptcy, HE fucks over his employees by not paying them for weeks on end, and yet, it's the people who bought the company's fault that HIS family is ruined?

Someone needs to be beaten about the head and shoulders with a cluestick.

Or a baseball bat.

His antics in the courtroom seem so consistent with everything you've told us about this clown. He must look like such an ass. And that sort of behavior will hopefully come back to bite him in the ass if the court say... has to make a ruling on this whole potential monkey wrench situation.

But at least the good guys carried the day and now own the company. That's the important thing, right?
