I can feel it. :)
I love fall. It's my favorite time of year, and it's always interesting to see that key books in my various series and even some of my screenplays, start in the fall.
It was always my favorite season when I lived in Nashville. Everything cooled down, the humidity dimmed, and the leaves burst into the most brilliant colors imagineable. I lived in an area known as Oak Hill, and I don't know what it's like now--I haven't been there in years--but, we were surrounded by woods then, and Radnor Lake, with all of its woods, wasn't far off.
I still love trees, love the changing of the leaves. Love the green of life returning in the spring. Trees are friendly and protective and maybe that's why I refuse to move from the apartment I live in now. For being in LA County, we have an enormous quantity of trees.
And, I love it.
But, the trees around here don't always turn. Some are evergreen, some are palm, some are eucalyptus (which smell wonderful in the rain.) But, the leaves that do turn, don't turn until Thanksgiving or Christmas because of the soCal climate.
But, I'm starting to feel the pull of fall. Maybe because of the overcast in the mornings, maybe because the temps are down some, maybe because school starts soon. Or maybe I'm just looking forward to that elusive bit of goodness I know is going to happen.
Whatever it is, I welcome it. The last year has not brought a lot of happiness. Anything good--no matter how small--is welcomed with open arms.
