It's Hard to Think of a Subject Line When Your Brain is Dead

I sat here and looked at the stupid subject line for a while, but I just couldn't think of anything witty or catchy or that had anything vaguely to do with my day or my post.

I'd hoped for more words today, but I just had to stop writing tonight because I couldn't focus any more. I was extremely BUSY at work today and I'm exhausted. Plus, the finances are getting really stressful too. My oldest son has to register for his fall college classes tomorrow, and I only have a couple of days to pay. Plus, we didn't get paid for the 4th of July holiday, which means I'm one day short on this check.

However, I don't really mean to complain because within a few more weeks, by the first week of August, things will be running a lot more smoothly and a lot of this financial crap will be gone. It's just hard getting caught up once you've gotten so far behind. I know most everyone understands how that goes.

Anyway, the important stuff.

I did write. I had quite a few words.

I completed some key scenes and started some other key scenes. Due to the fact that I haven't written as much as I'd hoped over the past few days, I think I might not finished Ancient Secrets until early next week since I'm going out of town this weekend. (Hooray for going out of town!)

It's real obvious that I'm going to be passing the 160,000 word mark that I'd set as my goal. What's interesting is that, as I write these missing scenes, other threads work into them really well and they end up being longer than I'd anticipated. But, that also means that some of the weaker threads will come out when I go back to edit, so I'm not upset that the novel is running long. Quite the contrary. I think these later scenes (written since I've been working on my positive attitude) have been much stronger as a whole. (Though, of course, I admit that when I kept writing tonight after I should have crashed, I was rambling a bit there by the end. I'll fix it later. No need to stress over it now.)

If I want to keep using the word count meter, I suppose I should set something reasonable as a goal that I won't hit in the next day or two. So, let's say 175,000, and watch the word count go up and the percentage drop again. (Maybe I'll get better at judging length as I go along.)

I think I'll probably finish julnawrimo tomorrow. Here are my words so far:

175,000 words! An epic!

:) It is turning out to be pretty long, but mostly because the plot threads have become more intricate. There are actually several things going on at once that have to be woven together until they meet at the end.

I do think I'll have plenty of words to cut out, though, so I can get it down to a reasonable size.

I hear large first works are difficult to market.

The entire series is pretty epic, though. People laugh when I tell them I already have 100 novels (spanning over 6,000 years) on my outline. I'll never get to them all, of course. Only the most important ones. :)

And, not to mention that you've almost finished you julnawrimo, and it's only the 13th of July.

I finished last night, and was pleased. I'm actually going to keep going and try to hit 100,000 words by the end of July. (As is another person in the group who already finished two days ahead of me.)

I say that as I sit here feeling totally unproductive today. I've written a grand total of 141 words so far. This weekend might be a lost cause. I need to rest. :)

Feeling any better? And, what about the dink that was your boss? When will you find out about his appeal?

I'm still exhausted, but tummy is better. Hooray!

The former shop foreman keeps calling employees at home and telling them not to celebrate yet, that the old owner is filing an appeal. But, apparently, it wasn't filed the day it was supposed to be.

I don't know what the heck he's up to, but I wish he'd STOP!

It's hot here too. (Texas) And fire ants are not soft cuddly creatures and I have the bites to prove it. Just one more thing to ask God about.
