I was actually good to myself and slept in this morning until 9:00. While that may not sound like a big deal to most, it was phenomenal for me. Normally, I'm up around 6:30 even on weekends, which may be due to the fact that I get up at 4:45 during the week and am accustomed to early rising, or just due to the fact that I feel like I get nothing done if I sleep all day.

I didn't hit the sack until 1:00 last night...er, this morning, so when I woke at 6:30 and considered getting up, I just told myself NO!

I had ideas in my head and wanted to write. But, I told writing would WAIT, the computer would still be here, and the ideas, too, and that I'd accomplish more if I slept a few more hours and got up around 9:00.

So I did. And, what's freaky is that I woke up, looked at the clock and it was EXACTLY 9:00.

Cool.

Kids are still asleep. Cats are all three asleep and spread out all around my room. Time for some breakfast (quiche, I think, this morning) and writing. (Mmmmm...writing.)

If I finish Ancient Secrets by the end of the week (and have some extra money), I'm going to reward myself by visiting my sister [livejournal.com profile] devinharris and we're going into Vegas to the movies, food, and shopping.

Hooray! Need to get out of town and visit Sis.

I adore quiche...almost any kind. Mmmm....

It is important to get some rest sometimes. But, for some reason, I felt really bad the rest of the day even though I slept in. I'm sure it was because I went to bed at 1:00. Even sleeping late doesn't seem to make up for staying up until the wee hours of the morning.

I'm still planning on Vegas this weekend (depending on my tires) and looking forward to it. Haven't been since January. My sister actually lives 1 hour outside of Vegas in a really quiet rural community.

No, kids wouldn't go. Just me this time. :)

Yay for sleeping in! And yeah, while it's often good to get ideas down quickly before they evaporate, sometimes they turn into *better* ideas if you mull 'em over for a bit. Sometimes a decent idea can grow into a massive and fascinating plot twist if you give it some time in the brain.

Enjoy your trip. :) We'll be doing the opposite soon...need to drive to CA to find an IKEA for baby furniture shopping. Plus we could always use another Billy bookcase, and maybe some doors for the ones we have to keep little fingers off of the books (or at least make a half-assed attempt to prevent that!).

I agree. Sometimes, ideas just like to veg.

What part of CA are you visiting? There really aren't any IKEA's in Vegas? Sheesh! And, here I thought Vegas was at least semi-civilized. :)

Not sure which IKEA we're going to, other than avoiding going too deep into the heart of LA because I really can live without the severe pollution headaches I get whenever we've done that (especially since I'm banned from my precious ibuprofen right now). Corran's going to check out the IKEA store listings soon and decide which is the best for a drive he wants to do since he'll be doing most of the driving. I think he might have said Burbank is currently a top choice, but I might be daft and misremembering.

And no, there aren't any here, and no plans to ever put one in. I've been asking them for years, pretty much since I moved here in 2000. They keep telling me there's no plan. Vegas is usually either *the* fastest growing city in North America or at least one of the top handful, and people need furniture. I have a theory that IKEA, unlike many other stores, likes to have a chunk of land to itself, and I bet in this corrupt little burg that means some kind of payola to the right county commissioner, and either IKEA wouldn't pay up or something. I have no evidence of that...just knowing how this town works. Could also be that competitors paid off someone to disallow it. That shit happens all the time here.

I thought Vegas was at least semi-civilized.

Foolish mortal. This town suck-diddly-ucks. Nice place to visit and all, but never live here!

Slept in 'til 9? Slacker. LOL... You so deserve those little luxuries. Revel in them. You've most definitely earned them, Miss J.

And hey, I'll be in Vegas in a couple of weeks for a show. When are you going? I'll be hitting town on the 26th....

I'm actually going to try to go twice this month. Once this weekend and then once the 29th.

How long are you going to be in town?

I come into town on Tuesday the 26th, and I leave right after the show ends on Saturday the 30th.
