A Look Back at June Goals and Progress
Jul. 2nd, 2005 12:50 pmTime to check the scorecard and see what I accomplished in June.
Here's what I set out to do.
JUNE
Works in Progress
Continue work on Ancient Secrets (novel)
Edit/Revise:
Split Milk (short short story)
Good Ole Boys (short short story)
Beyond the Darkness (novella)
Marketing
Write synopsis for Ancient Secrets
Research markets for Split Milk, Good Ole Boys, and Beyond the Darkness
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Works in Progress
I did continue to work on Ancient Secrets 50,603 words for June
I also cut and pasted in 68,179 words into this version as Rosemont became defunct.
I also worked on the following short stories:
Love Eternal 1,008 words for June
Night Demon 303 words for June
Rednecks 399 words for June complete
Dark Love 120 words for June
I believe the last three were actually started in June, too.
Edit/Revise
I did edit and revise Spilt Milk and Good Ole Boys, which had a name change to Rednecks. That could change again. :)
I did NOT edit and revise Beyond the Darkness because I've decided to turn it into a novel instead.
Marketing
I did NOT tackle the marketing goals of writing a synopsis for Ancient Secrets or researching markets for the short stories.
So, overall, considering the major crap that was going on for over half the month, I'd have to say I'm pretty pleased with what I accomplished.
I think, though, that my biggest accomplishment for the month was my huge effort to remain positive and not judge my work before it's ready. That has done a lot for me and made me a much happier writer.

I've been neglecting my workshops. I'm trying to turn that around this weekend.

Date: 2005-07-07 09:01 pm (UTC)I honestly didn't think I'd gotten that much done. I thought I'd been far too distracted with real life problems to make a dent in my writing. :)
I've got a great list of agent stuff & synopsis resources that I'd be happy to share
Oh, thank you so much for the offer of agent info. I have tons of info on screenplay agents, but not much at all on novel agents. I have one agent in mind that would be my dream agent, but would be thrilled to learn more about other agents as well.
If I get up the nerve to submit. Eeek!
In the mean time, have fun with the (dastardly, dreaded) synopsis...
I'm hoping that some plotting notes (by chapter) that I made will help with the synopsis, but I'm sure it's going to be difficult once I get around to it. I'd like to start working on it this month, though. I think that'll help me clarify the story I want to tell when I rewrite.
(when do I get a peek at Ancient Secrets? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink....)
You are a very brave person, Cat. Especially since you've already seen a sample of my writing on QnI. :)
