Deep breath.

Another deep breath.

Will find out for sure today, I think, whether there's any possibility of getting money out of the company.

Today, I have a 9:00 meeting with the receiver. I feel like I'm walking to the gallows.

I was told by a someone "in the know" that receivers don't pay back pay, which means three week's worth of lost money down the drain. However, if they determine to try to run the company...at least for a while, or until the bail-out money comes in from the Navy...they might pay forward.

Which would mean...sigh...going back to work for them under possibly worse circumstances.

However, at this point, my big concern is coming up with rent money before next Monday. Rent is due the 1st. We have until the 3rd to pay it. Then, if I haven't, I'll get a three day notice to pay or quit, which buys me until the 6th...next Monday.

If this doesn't work out, I'm going to try to post MANY auctions on eBay and sell whatever isn't tied down in an effort to stay.

My daughter only has three more weeks until graduation. My youngest son only has three more weeks in school. My oldest, thankfully, has already finished college classes for the semester. (Thank heavens for small favors!)

I probably could ask if my daughter could take exams early and at least get her diploma, even if she doesn't get to graduate with her friends...which, of course, would be very sad. But, I don't know what would happen to my youngest son. If we had to move, schools will already be out where we'd have to go, and if he didn't finish here, he might have to repeat 8th grade all over again.

I also feel that I have an obligation to try to help get people hired back on if they try to run the company...which they might not be able to do without a Controller. Unless they already have someone in mind to bring into the already wretched situation.

I'll see what they say. Hope that maybe something will work out right for once.

Sigh...

Complications. Wouldn't life be boring without them?

If things don't work out where you are going to have a paycheck from these people and you haven't already done so, file for unemployment. You can do it online and it only takes a few minutes. You are entitled to it and you've paid into the system for years. If nothing else, it will keep you and the kids fed.

And unless you are moving hundreds of miles away, your kids can finish the year in the same school they are in. You'll just have to drive them back and forth everyday. The school is not going to kick them out this close to the end of the year. :) It will just be a royal pain for three weeks.

The state of CA claims that there was a one-day overlap between my last claim (MANY years ago) and the first day of work in that job. And, of course, it was so many years ago that I can't even check into it to fix it.

We would be moving hundreds of miles away. From LA to just outside of Vegas. :(

Definitely file for unemployment... it's not much, but it can help you out for a few months.

*crosses fingers for you as well*

Thanks for the crossed fingers.

State says I'm not eligible for unemployment. :(

*hugs* Keep us posted, k?

And yeah, unemployment. We've all been paying into it for years. Don't rob us of the opportunity to help out a friend, yanno?

Yes, shit most definitely happens. But you're a strong, strong woman and you will recover. You will find a better job and you will be okay.
