Freaks On Parade
May. 22nd, 2005 12:37 pmMaybe it's the heat. Maybe it's the fact that we're coming up on a full mooon.
But, OMG, there were freaks out EVERYWHERE today.
Mostly at the grocery store. Though we ran into a few at Sunday brunch, too. Not as many, cause we went early and by the time all the weirdos with screaming kids got there and started running around, we were on our way OUT!
But, the grocery was another story. I was a freak magnet today. I don't know what that says about me. Maybe I don't want to know. :)
The first lady that came up to me and saw the Crystal Light in my basket and had to give me this long lecture about how it was going to kill me and how I needed to just have sugar instead of the fake stuff. So, I looked at her and said, "I'm diabetic." So, she looked in my basket and went through things and started yelling at me about buying donuts!!! I told her I didn't touch sugar (except for RARE occasions...VERY RARE...I'm very good about it). The donuts were for my kids and that I didn't have the inherited type of diabetes. That the dr says it's from stress, lack of sleep, and overweight. So, kids can have donuts without danger.
After that, I got a lady with a HORRIBLE child jumping around in her basket growling like an animal. She came up to my daughter and me while we were getting milk from the fridge section and started showing me her arms that had bite marks and bruises all over them and told me that three year-old child had done it all to her. Then, she asked me if I wanted him. Well, no, of course I didn't. But, I was polite.
The child got worse and worse until an old lady came by and started yelling at BOTH of us and said the child was misbehaving because, "You girls are ignoring him." Then, the lady with the bruises and bite marks started trying to give the child to the OLD LADY. (This was the lady's grandchild, I found out, that she was trying to give away.)
While they were thusly involved, my daughter and I snuck away. She came after us, but we navigated the twists and turns of the grocery aisles and made a beeline for the checkout and then for home.
Now, I'm safe inside with my air conditioner on, making Crystal Light individual servings, which I'm enamored of because I haven't bought the individual servings for water bottles before. And, resisting the urge to nap because kitty boys are feeling better after flea meds and are now sleeping all day and being rowdy all night, so they didn't let me sleep last night. And, I'm tired.
I want to write some more. Wrote about 1,016 words this morning before I went to brunch. Got lots of catching up to do.
Then I might go play either some Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, or maybe some Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap.
Or read. Maybe I'll read.
Or maybe I'll do both...all three even. :)
First to write. Then I'll see what else falls into place.

Consider staying indoors for the next several days to decontaminate.
