Early End of the Day Post
May. 20th, 2005 03:20 pmI figured I'd post from work before I leave, cause if I'm this tired and headachy when I get home, I'm hitting the sack. I think I just need to sleep for a year. (Or two.)
Kids want to stop for dinner at this cool retro place we found. Friday night is all you can eat shrimp night...for super reasonable prices. GREAT food, too.
Good music.
Might stop. Eat. Go home and sleep.
Mmmmm...sounds like a plan. Sleep for yummy, yummy desert. :)
Thought I had things to say. Guess they've slipped out of my over-worked brain.
Printed out nine pieces from Quill N Ink to add to the pieces I have from OWW and Critters. Plan to work on as much as I can this weekend to try to get caught up. (After sleeping, that is!)
Read one of the pieces I printed out during lunch. It was an AWESOME fantasy short story by
bachsoprano. I LOVED it, Cat, and will post a critique for you this weekend!!!
I started a new short story at lunch as well. Maybe cause I really wasn't very enamored of my lunch after I braved the mid 90 degree temps to go get it. Bleh.
Anyway, it's a sequel/conclusion to Beyond the Darkness. It's called, predictably perhaps, Into the Light, and it takes place maybe 12 years after Beyond the Darkness. I'm anxious to work on it more this weekend and maybe even finish it. :)
Going to leave. There are only maybe three of us in the entire building at this point. So, I am going HOME...or to have shrimp. Depends on how I feel once I get out of here. But, definitely home to sleep ultimately.

Hooray, I have stats to post again. Hooray! Hooray! Welcome back, muse!!! I love you!!!
I don't have a link to the word meter on my computer here, so I'll just post one of those after I add tomorrow. :)

Date: 2005-05-22 04:57 am (UTC)Here's my problem...whether or not folks will understand the situation they'd find themselves in in this story without the details of what falls between.
I mean, that's a lot of years, you know, and by that time, Koji has kinda fulfilled a lot of his destiny and that kind of stuff. But, it resolves some of the conflict mentioned in Beyond the Darkness.
I don't know if it'll stand alone or not. :(

Date: 2005-05-22 07:44 am (UTC)Seriously, give it a go. You've got me interested already! I love to see it.

Date: 2005-05-22 05:00 am (UTC)I got some. I just wish I could get more on a regular basis. I really have to try to figure some way to rest.
Did you have a good trip?

Date: 2005-05-22 05:08 am (UTC)Oooh, a busy muse is a good muse. Can't wait to see what you come up with! I read both of your submissions on Quill N Ink and have started critiques of both.
Had to work, though, so I'm not finished. Maybe tomorrow.
I usually don't get to bed until late because I have so many things to get done with all the overtime I've been working, so I have less hours available to sleep as a result. Plus, because of the stress, I just don't seem to get much restful sleep. I hope I'll be able to get it under control once things settle at work, but this has built for a couple of years, so I have lots of rest I need to catch up on.

Date: 2005-05-22 05:29 am (UTC)I've worked for this company for 5-1/2 years and it seems like each year, there's a new stress that lasts for maybe 3/4 of the year and then gets resolved. And, each time, I hope that's the last of it and things will settle down. And, they do...for a while.
But, at this point, the company is either going to go out of business or end up saved by a government bail-out program since we are sole source providers on parts for several submarines. And, at that point, these other problems shouldn't pop up again.
Either way, we should know by the end of the month.
Lots of folks advise me to find another job anyway, because of OT and stress and such. But, I run my own department, answer only to the owner, come and go as I please because he knows I'll get the work done no matter what. And, he has kids, so if I have something happening at one of the schools, etc., he's very supportive of that. He respects the fact that I'm a single mom. I doubt I could find it anywhere else.

Date: 2005-05-22 05:39 am (UTC)I should know by May 31. Originally they said May 24. But, it got extended a week. I hope we'll actually know this coming week.
Fingers crossed.
