Spent the night over at my youngest son's middle school for music. There was a Handbells and a Choir Spring Concert. The same teacher teaches both and she is absolutely AMAZING!!! Wonderfully talented woman. She treats the kids like they're going to be professional musicians. Teaches them the skills and the showmanship, too. So, the concerts are always GREAT.

Music reached that part of me that had retreated recently...the creative part. It talked to my muse. Told her to wake up and stop being a weenie. Told her that if she tried to please other people instead of me, that we wouldn't be true to each other. Reminded me of things I thought I'd lost.

Muse says she's tired...just like me. Too much stress. Not enough sleep. But, she's willing to let bygones be bygones and forget about the things that made her too sad to work. She says I'd better get rested up cause she's going to be a wickedly wonderful taskmaster and make me write, write, write...like I used to.

She said she'd give me until this weekend to rest up...though she really wants me to at least scribble some stuff out or plot some tomorrow. I told her that sounded good if work isn't nuts.

She said we need to critique some, too, cause we were bad last week. So, we're going to work on that this weekend, too.

Critters sent me a story by [livejournal.com profile] eugie and I ALWAYS love reading her writing, so I'm looking forward to that. Plus [livejournal.com profile] pet_hypothesis has a story up this week and I've printed it out, too.

Also, going to get to some pieces at Quill N Ink.

And, going to get to some pieces at OWW for writers on FL. I still owe quite a few people reviews.

Whew...she's going to keep me busy. I like writing type stuff busy. I've missed it. :)

Kitty Malik sits on the back of my chair and leans over to rub cheekies with me. He says I should consider sleeping soon. He's probably right. Hey, there is goes...to bed to wait for me!

No energy to read tonight. I'll catch up on short stories tomorrow night. Ooops...no I won't. Got an award ceremony to go to for my daughter tomorrow night at the high school. Hmm...maybe I can read at lunch. :)

Ooooh, they get WONDERFUL instruction. That both surprises me, and thrills me, in today's world.

My youngest son plays flute, piccolo and handbells and wants to learn oboe now, too. He wants piano lessons, but we can't really have a piano in our upstairs apartment.

My daughter plays clarinet and bass clarinet.

My oldest son plays clarinet, oboe, and violin. But, he only got a year of strings when we lived in Las Vegas. It's very difficult to find schools in southern California that offered strings when he was in middle school and high school.

I play piano and clarinet (though I'm VERY rusty), so I'm very glad that they not only play, but listen to a wide variety of music as well.

I'm very happy muse is trying to make a comeback, too, cause it really messes up life when she's in "duck and cover" mode. Thankfully, she doesn't do it often and it takes something horrific to set her off. :)

Now, if I could just get that rest. I don't know why that's such a difficult thing.
