I'm working on a class assignment right now (a logline, synopsis, and character bio) for a screenplay based on one of the novels I'm writing for my series, and I just...I'm sooo worried people are going to laugh at me and say it's stupid.

It's so hard to get things across in so few words.

I admire you for being able to write in screenpla format at all. Way bck in the day I was in the Friends fandom and most fics then were written in screenplay format. (For all I know, they still are.) Anywya, that was the first time I'd ever written that way. It was HARD. You're right - having so few words makes it very hard to articulate what you want to say. And gah, I'm too drunk really to say what I want to say, but at any rate, I hope you find the woreds you want and you find your faith in yourself again.

The screenplay itself isn't hard. I have a big chunk of it written, and it's not even due for another month or so.

The logline is written. It was easy, too.

I just fear people will think Lilli is stupid because she's alien and they'll think the story is stupid because of all it entails.

You know, I'm sure they wouldn't. They're very professional.

It's just that...well, I had some folks that didn't write spec fic in an online writing group that made fun of some of my stuff because of some elements and then there have been a few people here on LJ that have given me a hard time too.

So, sometimes, I guess I just have a little trouble with the self-confidence and believing in myself.

Anybody who gives another writer a hard time because of their chosen genre is the one with the problem, not the spec-fic (or whatever) writer.

Mercury is in retrograde, which is supposed to screw everybody up. This past week was the first vacation I've had since my daughter was born last year, and it's... sucked. Lots of people are unhappy, I've seen.

No, no, you haven't contributed to it at all. You've always been wonderful and kind and supportive, and I appreciate that LOTS.

Don't worry about the screenplay until you actually have time. I'm working on another one (and a novel version of the same story) right now, and won't have time to work on edits for a couple of months.

I've found I have faith in most people around me but not much in myself, I hear you on this. You are a very motivated person, seriously you are. And I doubt that I'm the only one inspired by you.
